Abstract

The present invention describes an intelligent power management system designed for optimizing energy use in data center server assemblies. It can use various coolants, like liquid or gas, and adjusts to changing processor loads. The system integrates a coolant loop, a variable flow coolant circulator, and an advanced control unit. The advanced control unit dynamically regulates coolant flow, server temperature, and total power consumption, and receives temperature data from each server's baseboard management controller and power data from a power distribution unit. The advanced control unit computes the best coolant flow rate to minimize total power use while keeping server temperature below a safety limit, and uses either a static or a machine learning model with reinforcement learning and a reward mechanism to enhance real-time calculations and overall efficiency over time.

Abstract

A liquid cooling method and system for estimating power consumption of cooling rack-mounted processing assemblies and controlling corresponding fan and pump speeds, is presented. The presented method and system provide for the estimation of the power consumption of the rack-mounted data processing assemblies by calculating a thermal load based on measured cooling liquid temperatures, heated liquid temperatures, ambient dry cooler temperatures, and cooling liquid volume and controlling the fan speed based on the estimated power consumption. The presented method and system also provide for controlling the pump speed based on measured flow rates and corresponding empirically derived pump head pressure values H.

Abstract

There is disclosed a method and system for identifying the effects of an item failing in a network. Information about a first item in a network is received. The information indicates that the first item provides a service to other items in the network. A graph of the network is retrieved. A node in the graph that corresponds to the first item is identified. Edges are added to the graph to connect the node of the first item to nodes of the other items that receive the service from the first item. A request is received to model a failure of the first item. The nodes connected to the node that corresponds to the first item are retrieved. Operational rules are applied to each of the retrieved nodes to identify if any of their corresponding items would fail. A list of items that would fail is output.

Abstract

A method and system for configuring networking devices in a network having a local layer and a global layer. An indication of a network attack is received at the local layer. A configuration change corresponding to the attack is stored in a database of the local layer. The configuration change is sent to a device in the global layer. The device in the global layer stores the configuration change in a database of the global layer. Configuration changes are generated for the networking devices and sent to the networking devices. The configuration changes applied to the networking devices are stored in the global layer.

Abstract

Methods and systems for detecting Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks on a network. The method includes clustering connection requests received at the network during a first collection time having a first time span based on communication datasets extracted therefrom. For at least one connection cluster, a first DoS attack detection algorithm is executed to determine a first probability that the connection cluster is associated with a DoS attack. The first confidence score is compared with a first threshold to determine whether a mitigation order is to be generated. The connection cluster is adjusted by extracting second communication datasets from connection requests received at the network during a second collection time having a second time span longer than the first time span, and a second DoS attack detection algorithm is executed to determine a second probability that the connection cluster is associated with a DoS attack.

Abstract

A method and system allow to store and retrieve data values and data structure in a memory of an embedded system, the memory also storing executable code uploaded to the embedded system by a first external system through a first version of a firmware. A serializer is configured to receive from the executable code, sizes of data, corresponding to a number of chunks of the data, together with values of the chunks, to form a series of bytes therewith through concatenation, to calculate a total size of the series of bytes, and to write to the memory, successively the total size and the formed series of bytes. A deserializer is configured to read from the memory, successively a total size and a series of bytes, to deconcatenate the series of bytes into successively sizes of data, corresponding to a number of chunks of the data, together with values of the chunks, and to send the same to the executable code.

Abstract

A connection between a power distribution unit (PDU) and an electric device is identified by generating a data packet containing an identity of the electric device, transmitting the data packet by varying, on a power line connecting an output socket of the PDU to the electric device, a power level between distinct intensities for transmitting distinct logical values of the data packet, sensing, at the PDU, the power level on the power line, reporting, to an identification module, a socket number of the output socket connected to the power line and successive power level data obtained by sensing the power level on the power line, decoding the identity of the electric device by monitoring the successive power level data reported by the PDU, and storing, in a database, a reference between the identity of the electric device, an identity of the PDU, and the socket number.

Abstract

A cooling system comprises a container receiving a dielectric cooling liquid and electronic components immersed in the dielectric cooling liquid. A first pump causes a circulation of a first fraction of the dielectric cooling liquid in the container for convection cooling of the electronic components. A second pump withdraws a second fraction of the dielectric cooling liquid from the container and directs the second fraction of the dielectric cooling liquid toward the electronic components for direct cooling of the electronic components. A manifold fluidly connected to an outlet of the second pump receives the second fraction of the dielectric cooling liquid from the second pump. One or more outlet pipes fluidly connected to the manifold bring portions of the second fraction of the dielectric cooling liquid in thermal contact with the electronic components.

Abstract

A system provides cooling to an infrastructure having heat-generating units. Internal cooling units are thermally connected to the heat-generating units. An external cooling unit dissipates thermal energy of a heat-transfer fluid circulating in the internal cooling units. A cooling circuit connects the internal and external cooling units. A pump maintains a flow of the heat-transfer fluid for transferring thermal energy from the heat generating units to the external cooling unit. A reservoir thermally connected to the cooling circuit contains a phase change material (PCM) changing between solid and liquid states according to a temperature of the heat-transfer fluid. Thermal energy is transferred between the cooling circuit and the PCM depending on whether a temperature of the heat-transfer fluid is above or below a phase-change temperature value of the PCM. A supplemental cooling device thermally connected to the reservoir dissipates heat from the reservoir to the atmosphere.
