Abstract
An ice making system and method that includes an ice formation cell, an ejector, a panel, and an evaporator tube. The ice formation cell has a first wall and a second wall. The evaporator tube that comprises a first portion and a second portion. The panel is situated between the first portion and the second portion of the evaporator tube. The ejector is situated between the first wall and the second wall, the ejector being configured to remove an ice piece from the first portion or the second portion of the evaporator tube.

Abstract
Methods of operating an ice maker with an exposed refrigerant tube. The method includes providing a water stream to an ice formation cell of an ice formation tray. A refrigerant tube freezes a portion of the water stream in order to make an ice piece layer. An ejector pries the ice piece layer away from the ice formation cell. The ejector is configured to rotate about an axis.

Abstract
An ice making system and method that includes an ice formation tray, an ejector, and an ejector shaft is disclosed herein. The ice formation tray has a first side and a second side. The ejector includes a unitary structure and an insert, with the unitary structure encompassing the insert on at least four sides. The ejector shaft spans between the first side and the second side of the ice formation tray, with the ejector shaft passing through a bore in the insert of the ejector.

Systems and apparatuses for making ice and ejecting the ice from an ice formation cell. In one example, a system includes an ice formation cell, a refrigerant tube, and an ejector. The refrigerant tube is disposed within the ice formation cell. A portion of the water stream can freeze on the refrigerant tube to generate the ice piece. The ejector rotates about an axis. When rotating, the ejector pries an ice piece away from the refrigerant tube disposed the ice formation cell.
