Abstract

The invention relates to a cushioning material for a resilient, insulating or padding cover for objects or components, consisting of a double pile fabric (1) which is elastically impregnated by means of resin impregnation, and in which an upper fabric (2) and a lower fabric (3) are connected so as to be spaced apart from one another by webs (14) that are formed from pile threads (4), the elastically-impregnated double pile fabric (1) having a shape deflection, as a result of these integrated webs (14), that has a non-linear load-deflection curve (5) with an average characteristic curve range (6) lying between a rising lower (7) and a rising upper characteristic curve range (8), said average characteristic curve range (6) having a shallower characteristic curve progression than both of these, and this progression demonstrating hysteretic behaviour which provides the impregnated double pile fabric (1) with an inner damping capacity (W) that can be adjusted as a function of the density alterable by means of the pile threads (4), and/or of the degree of hardness of the resin impregnation.
