A method of controlling a condensate pump is disclosed. The pump comprises a pump motor, a liquid receptacle configured to receive condensate to be pumped, a liquid level sensor received in the liquid receptacle to sense a level of condensate within the liquid receptacle, and a controller connected to the pump motor and the liquid level sensor. The method comprises starting a timer once a measured liquid level signal from the liquid level sensor reaches the first predetermined liquid level value, stopping the timer once a measured liquid level signal from the liquid level sensor reaches a second predetermined liquid level value, calculating a condensate flow rate, and powering the pump motor at a rate based on the calculated condensate flow rate. Also provided is a pump configured to operate according to the method.

The present application provides a vacuum pump (15) for use during maintenance or commissioning of an HVAC-R system (1). The vacuum pump (15) has a pump (17) having a pump intake (22) for connection to the HVAC-R system (1), in particular one or more of a high pressure service port (14) and a low pressure service port (13) of the HVAC-R system (1). The vacuum pump (15) also includes a communications unit (19) that is configured to connect to a mobile communications network. The vacuum pump (15) also includes a pressure sensor arranged to detect a pressure in the HVAC-R system (1). The vacuum pump (15) also includes a control unit (18) configured to receive pressure data from the pressure sensor (21), control operation of the pump (17), and communicate with a remote device via the communication unit (19) and the mobile communications network. In examples, the remote device (20) may be a mobile phone or a tablet computer, or any device that can connect to a mobile communications network. Connection box for condensate pumps in air-conditioning units
The connection box of the present invention provides a simple and safe method to integrate an AC unit and condensate pump into a larger building management system. This is possible because the circuit is configured to require high water level sensors are connected to the connection box in order for power to be provided to operate the AC unit. An installer only has to connect the external wires of the AC unit, condensate pump and building management system to the respective designated connection terminals within the connection box. The designated terminal connections provide a clearly labelled instruction to an installer and aid safe and proper installation of AC units and remove the need to re-wire the internal wiring of the AC unit.

The connection box of the present invention provides a simple and safe method to integrate an AC unit and condensate pump into a larger building management system. This is possible because the circuit is configured to require high water level sensors are connected to the connection box in order for power to be provided to operate the AC unit. An installer only has to connect the external wires of the AC unit, condensate pump and building management system to the respective designated connection terminals within the connection box. The designated terminal connections provide a clearly labelled instruction to an installer and aid safe and proper installation of AC units and remove the need to re- wire the internal wiring of the AC unit.
