Abstract

Systems and methods for generating a three-dimensional simulated world with dynamically presented content. A request is received from a user to access the three-dimensional simulated world. A virtual location or a virtual time is determined for the user within the three-dimensional simulated world. Content is then selected for the user based on the virtual location or the virtual time. A content placement location is also determined for the content within the three-dimensional simulated world. The three-dimensional simulated world is generated for the user based on the virtual location or the virtual time. Moreover, the three-dimensional simulated world is augmented with the selected content presented at the determined content placement location, which is then presented to the user.

Abstract

A multi-dimensional fabric user interface is described herein. A remote server executes an operating system that provides a multi-dimensional fabric user interface for storing content for a particular user. The user can access content by manipulating the multi-dimensional fabric user interface through a graphical user interface displayed on a personal mobile computing device. The remote server also enables the user to enter a portal and travel to a virtual representation a second actual physical location from a virtual representation of a first actual physical location, and transfer an object or content from the virtual representation of the first actual physical location to the virtual representation of the second actual physical location. This initiates an operation relating to the one or more of objects and content, in response to the user picking up, transferring, and placing the one or more of objects and content.

Abstract

Utilization of a selection ring to select icons is provided herein. The selection ring is presented in a first graphical user interface. In response to receiving a first selection of the selection ring by a user, a plurality of icons are presented in the first graphical user interface. User manipulation of a position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface is received, where that manipulation occurs without altering a location of the plurality of icons being presented within the first graphical user interface. In response to receiving a second selection associated with the selection ring, an icon from the plurality of icons is selected based on the position of the selection ring within the first graphical user interface. A second graphical user interface is then presented to the user based on the selected icon.

Abstract

A system is disclosed for controlling cursor movement on an associated large display device using dynamic grid density of an associated personal mobile computing device. The system includes a personal mobile computing device and a remote server. The personal mobile computing device receives input from the user, via a touch screen, to control cursor movement on the associated large display device. The touch screen includes a grid that increases in density towards the edges of the touch screen. The personal mobile computing device sends the user input to the remote server. The remote server calculates corresponding cursor movement on the associated large display device. The dynamic grid density on the touch screen controls how far the cursor on the associated large display device moves in response to the user input on the touch screen. The remote server then send instructions to move the cursor on the associated large display device using to the calculated corresponding cursor movement.

The system activates a hidden menu on a display screen, in response to receiving a pressure input user action on a user interface. The hidden menu including active regions and inactive regions. Next, the system also causes movement of a cursor over the hidden menu on the user interface, in response to receiving a motion input user action on the user interface. The system performs an operation associated with a utility, in response to receiving the pressure user action if the cursor on the hidden menu is over an active region. Then the system de-activates the hidden menu, in response to receiving the pressure user action.

Abstract

A watchband connection mechanism includes a watchband with a watchband housing and a cam rotatable between a first position where the cam extends from the watchband into a watch ledge in a watch side cavity and a second position where the cam is recessed in the watchband housing. A watch includes a watch housing, a watch cavity for receiving at least a portion of the watchband, and a button coupled to the watch housing and movable with respect to the watch cavity. In operation, the watchband is received in the watch cavity, which enables the cam to rotate into the first position to extend from the band into the watch ledge and prevent the watchband from uncoupling with the watch. The user depresses the button to move the cam into the second position, which is back within the watchband, to uncouple the watchband from the watch.

Abstract

A method for real-time multiparty communications across a social network organized according to a fluid timeline is taught. In the method, a user accesses the social network. The user views a story posted by a first user and favorably reacted to by a second user. The user also likes the story, so the user favorably reacts to the posted story. Since a threshold number of users have favorably reacted to the posted story, a collective network group messaging feature is made available. The user accesses the feature participates in real time in a collective network group messaging session in a virtual room with at least one other user.

Abstract

An orthogonal or multi-dimensional fabric interface is described herein to select and present content to a user. A location is determined and time is selected for the user. The multi-dimensional fabric is accessed for content based the determined location and the selected time. If content is stored in the multi-dimensional fabric at the determined location and the selected time, the user is notified of the content, which can then be presented to the user.

Abstract

An orthogonal or multi-dimensional fabric user interface is described herein. A remote server executes an operating system that provides a multi-dimensional fabric user interface for storing content for a particular user. The user can access select content by manipulating the multi-dimensional fabric user interface through a graphical user interface displayed on a personal mobile computing device. In this way, the user experiences and manipulates various data dimensions around the specific content they are accessing, rather than selecting a particular file structure location. The remote server also enables the user to enter a first location side of a portal and travel to a virtual representation a second actual physical location in the multi-dimensional fabric user interface from a virtual representation of a first actual physical location in the multi-dimensional fabric user interface.

Abstract

An orthogonal or multi-dimensional fabric user interface is described herein. A remote server executes an operating system that stores content in a multi-dimensional fabric. Abstract

A computing system for presenting on a mobile device pieces of content each connected to a geographic location is described. The facility plots visual indications of the pieces of content in a two-dimensional display with respect to an origin point representing a user geographic location. In particular, for each piece of content, the facility plots a visual indication at a point that is (1) in a direction from the origin point that corresponds to a compass direction from the user geographic location to the geographic location to which the piece of content is connected, and (2) at a distance from the origin point that corresponds to a predicted amount of time to travel from the user geographic location to the geographical location to which the piece of content is connected.
