The coating is useful on a wide variety of surfaces and may contain polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and/or ammonium polyphosphate. The silicone rubber emulsion coatings have a number of notable features. First, it is dilutable with water, thus eliminating hazardous solvents and cosolvents. Second, it has low volatility. Third, it is not a fire or VOC hazard. Fourth, it forms an elastomeric film on a wide range of substrates. Fifth, it is easily applied using a spray, roll, coating, or brush.
