Abstract

In various embodiments, efficiency-based dynamic power module power delivery management for vehicle battery charging systems is provided. A power module controller optimizes usage of power modules within a charging station to a peak efficiency level that incurs minimal losses during charging sessions. A charge management system may work in conjunction with the power module controller to optimize an overall efficiency over the charging session. The power module controller may determine a charging configuration for power modules based on charging efficiency data for a charging architecture associated with the vehicle. By configuring the power module(s) at a power level based on the charging architecture, the power module controller can tailor operating the power module(s) at a peak efficiency level that correlates to the specific vehicle. In doing so, the power module controller can deliver charging power while providing a charging station that runs cooler and with lower overhead costs.

Abstract

Systems and methods for efficient, adaptive, and dynamic enthalpy distribution management are provided. In one aspect, an enthalpy management controller that operates in conjunction with a thermal transfer system to distribute heat between system components based on component enthalpy models is provided. The controller may monitor enthalpy models for a plurality of components coupled to a thermal transfer system, to assess whether a component is operating within a target operating enthalpy band. Based on the assessment, and similar assessments for the other components coupled to the thermal transfer system, the controller may control the thermal transfer system to transfer heat between the plurality of components, for example, to attempt to bring one or more components into operation within their respective operating enthalpy bands. When the enthalpy response of a component deviates from a response predicted, adjustments may be made to the component enthalpy model to adjust the component enthalpy model.

Abstract

Methods, devices, and systems for vehicle unintended intersection entry prevention are disclosed. In examples, a first remaining distance from a vehicle to a stop sign object is monitored. An optical warning is output upon determining a detection threshold distance from the stop sign object has been reached based on the monitored first remaining distance. A second remaining distance to the stop sign object is compared to a predicted stopping distance. The second remaining distance is determined based on the detection threshold distance and a vehicle distance traveled following determination of the detection threshold distance, and the predicted stopping distance is determined based on a current vehicle velocity and a determined braking operation applied to the vehicle. The braking operation is actuated to prevent the vehicle from traveling past a stopping location associated with the stop sign object, responsive to the comparison indicating a point of no return has been reached.

Abstract

Aerodynamic underbody structures, assemblies with the same, and methods of manufacturing, integrating, and using the same. To improve the aerodynamic performance of a vehicle, e.g., a truck, such as a tractor-trailer, one or more aerodynamic underbody structures are integrated thereon. The aerodynamic underbody structures can each include an elongated panel (22) that attaches to a mounting structure (18)that attaches to a vehicle underbody, thereby allowing each elongated panel to extend downward into a flow path beneath the vehicle. The elongated panels may extend substantially in parallel, being spaced inward from outer chassis structures, wheels, and/or fairings, or can be angled relative to each other. The configurations and implementations of the aerodynamic components described herein can improve aerodynamic performance of vehicles.
