Abstract
A mechanical plug for restricting fluid flow through a conduit. The mechanical plug includes a first plug member, an elongate member coupled to the first plug member, a second plug member received on the elongate member, a wedge, and a gripper. The wedge is received on the elongate member between the first plug and the second plug. The wedge includes a wedge outer wall. The gripper at least partially surrounds the wedge and is moveable both axially along the central axis and radially with respect to the central axis to selectively engage the conduit. The mechanical plug is transitionable between a first state and a second state. In the first state, the mechanical plug is disengaged from the conduit. In the second state, the mechanical plug engages the conduit.

The method comprising installing an anchor through an opening in a wall of the pipe, engaging a portion of the wall with a foot of an anchor, securing a head of the anchor to the pipe, placing a saddle between a bottom surface of the head and an outer surface of the wall of the pipe, and inflating an inflatable plug coupled to the anchor. When securing the head of the anchor to the pipe, the head remains partially outside the pipe.

The foot is coupled to the second end of the inflation conduit. The inflatable plug is coupled to the anchor. The inflatable plug includes an interior chamber. The interior chamber is in fluid communication with the passage. The head and the foot are configured to engage diametrically opposed sections of the pipe.

The anchor includes an alignment body, a shield body, and a first fluid passage defined in the alignment body and the shield body. The shield body extends from the alignment body and has an upstream face and a downstream face. The downstream face is opposite the upstream face. The shield body is configured to block at least a portion of the fluid flow through the pipe. The inflatable plug is coupled to the downstream face of the shield body. The inflatable plug includes an interior chamber that is in fluid communication with the first fluid passage.

The inflatable plug includes a first plate positioned on an exterior surface of the inflatable plug, a second plate positioned on an interior surface of the inflatable plug, and at least one fluid port extending through the first plate and the second plate to facilitate inflation and deflation of the inflatable plug.

Abstract
An inflatable plug insertable into a conduit and inflatable therein to restrict fluid flow comprises a bladder having an interior surface and an exterior surface and at least one fabric layer covering at least a portion of the exterior surface of the bladder. The inflatable plug also comprises a first plate, a second plate, and at least one fluid port. The first plate is positioned inside the bladder and adjacent to the interior surface of the bladder. The second plate is positioned outside the bladder and adjacent to the at least one fabric layer. The second plate is coupled to the first plate such that the first plate and the second plate clamp a portion of the at least one fabric layer and a portion of the bladder therebetween. The at least one fluid port extends through the first plate and the second plate and facilitates inflation and deflation of the bladder.
