Abstract

The present invention provides a reversibly thermochromic microcapsule pigment which easily changes, upon heating, from a decolored state to a colored state and sharply returns again to the decolored state, at a temperature in the range of living environmental temperatures or at a temperature around daily-living temperatures. This reversibly thermochromic microcapsule pigment is one obtained by microencapsulating a reversibly thermochromic composition comprising (A) an electron-donating color-assuming organic compound, (B) a 4-hydroxybenzoic acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) as an electron-accepting compound, (C) a compound, e.g., a chain hydrocarbon, as a reaction medium for reversibly causing electron transfer reactions between the (A) and the (B), (D) a linear dibasic acid compound having 3-22 carbon atoms, and (E) a compound, e.g., an aromatic hydrocarbon, having a melting point of 50°C or higher. (In formula (1), R represents a C12-C22, linear or branched alkyl group.)

Abstract

[Problem] To provide a reversible thermochromic microcapsule pigment that exhibits such reversible thermochromic behavior that the pigment easily turns from a colorless state to a color-developing state when being heated in a living environment temperature range or at or near everyday life temperature, and returns to the colorless state, and also exhibits a high color density when the pigment develops color. [Solution] This reversible thermochromic microcapsule pigment comprises (a) an electron-donating color-developing organic compound, (b) a hydroxyphenyl acetic acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) and serving as an electron-accepting compound, (c) a compound selected from chain hydrocarbons, alicyclic hydrocarbons, and halogenated hydrocarbons, as a reaction mediator that reversibly causes an electron transfer reaction between the component (a) and the component (b), and (d) a styrene-based compound having a softening point of 5°C or higher and a mass-average molecular weight of 200-100,000. (In the formula, R represents a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 12-22 carbon atoms, X, Y, and Z each independently represent hydrogen or a hydroxy group, and two or three of X, Y, and Z are each a hydroxy group)

Abstract

[Problem] Provided are a water-discolored laminated body having many practical uses for expression that has a vivid pigmented layer arranged in the underlayer of a porous layer, moreover, a function for enabling the visual recognition of a vivid and clear image due to the pigmented layer that is not hindered even with the repeated application of water, and permanent satisfactory color fastness due to the application of water; and a method for manufacturing same. [Solution] The method for manufacturing the water-discolored laminated body places a transfer layer including a water-insoluble sublimated dye in contact with a fabric surface, and heats to a temperature above the sublimation initiation temperature of the sublimated dye while applying pressure to transfer the transfer layer to the fabric surface and form the pigmented layer, coats a low refractive index dye on top, dries at a temperature less than the sublimation initiation temperature of the sublimated dye, and forms a porous layer. The present invention relates to a water-discolored laminated body that can be manufactured by this method and a fabric that can be used in the method for manufacturing same.

Abstract

A water based ink composition for a ballpoint pen containing ι-carrageenan in addition to a dye, water and a water-soluble organic solvent. When used in the ball point pen, the ink composition satisfies an ink drooling prevention and a drying resistance which are mutually incompatible functions and is excellent in writing performance regardless of containing a dye as a coloring agent. The ink composition (c) is used, for example, by accommodating a refill (12) whose ink accommodating tube (18) is filled with the ink composition and which is further loaded with an ink backflow-preventing member (20) in the ballpoint pen (10) whose writing edge is retracted and extruded from a front end opening of a barrel (21).

Abstract

A color-change laminate in which a color tone derived from a porous layer is visually perceived in a dry state and a metallic lustrous property is visually perceived in a liquid-absorbed state of the porous layer caused by water application is excellent in luminance and which satisfies both of changing properties and decorative properties in the dry state and in the liquid-absorbed state. A color-change laminate includes a support having a metallic lustrous property and a porous layer provided on the surface of the support. The porous layer includes a low-refractive-index pigment and a transparent metallic lustrous pigment formed by coating a transparent core material with a metal oxide and/or a transparent metallic lustrous pigment having a color-flopping property all fixed onto a binder resin in a dispersed state and is different in transparency in a liquid-absorbed state and in a liquid-unabsorbed state.

Abstract

Disclosed is an aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen, which comprises a dye, water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and 蹡-carrageenan. When used in a ballpoint pen, the ink composition satisfies a drooling property and desiccation resistance which are mutually contradictory properties and has excellent marking performance in spite of containing a dye as a coloring agent. For practical use, the ink composition (C) is charged into an ink-reservoir (18), a backflow-preventing material (20) is further charged over the ink composition (C) to form an ink cartridge (12), and the ink cartridge (12) is included in a ballpoint pen (10) which is adapted so that a pen tip can be retracted and extruded from the front opening of a tubular body (21).
