Abstract

A gas diffusion system including a gas supply and a gas diffuser. In one example the gas diffuser includes an open end connected to the gas supply, a closed end, and a porous diffuser wall extending from the open end to the closed end and defining an interior cavity. The porous diffuser wall is formed of a single material, and has at least a first wall thickness and a second wall thickness between the interior cavity and an exterior of the porous diffuser wall, with the first wall thickness being thinner than the second wall thickness. A gas flow rate out of the porous diffuser at the first wall thickness is greater than a purge gas flow rate out of the porous diffuser at the second wall thickness.

Abstract

A liquid sample processing method includes opening a closed container by removing a closure of the container from an opening of the container to access a liquid sample collector including a liquid sample collection member and an elongated handle. Before removing the closure, the container may be secured with a holder. After separating the liquid sample collection member, a plunger with a liquid pathway extending through it is pushed downward to compress the liquid sample collection member such that at least some of the liquid sample flows through the liquid pathway.

Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention provide filters and method for their use that introduce two sections, one filtration section and one venting section, in a single filter. The filtration section allows water to penetrate, and the venting section does not allow water to penetrate, but does allow air to penetrate. Because the venting section does not allow water to penetrate, the air will not need to overcome the bubble point pressure to move through the venting section. The venting section also provides a low pressure air pathway for the air but not water.

Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to porous devices that are useful for various cleaning purposes or other uses. The devices may be formed with, impregnated with, pre-wetted with, or otherwise associated with one or more agents, such as a dental treatment agent, a nail treatment agent, a disinfectant, a lubricant, or any other cleaning agent. The devices may find particular use for cleaning somewhat delicate areas, such as gum tissues, nail cuticle beds, electronic devices, or any other uses that benefit from a self-supporting structure that can withstand pressure but that also benefit from a resilient treatment surface.

Abstract

The present invention provides compositions and methods addressing the problems and disadvantages associated with orienting articles prior to disposition in a housing. Compositions and methods of the present invention, in some embodiments, can provide articles with the proper orientation for disposition in a housing without the encumbrances associated with hand assembly, such as increased production time and increased potential for contamination. As a result, manufacturers and users of products comprising polymeric articles disposed in housings are no longer restricted to the use of articles having isotropic shapes and homogeneous properties.

Abstract

Various embodiments of devices and methods for indicating the level or amount of a vaporizable material in a dispenser, such as an air freshener device or insect control system, are disclosed. An embodiment of a dispenser (20) includes a housing (22) with a reservoir (32) and wick (38) that may be removably coupled to the housing (22). A circuit within the dispenser measures a property in the wick, such as an electrical property, or a level of vaporizable material in the reservoir and triggers an indicator (50) that provides a visual or audible signal to the user advising that the reservoir is low or empty.
