As one example, a machine of the present disclosure includes a supply material input for receiving raw supplies, one or more machine components configured to convert the raw supplies into completed packaging materials, a material output for outputting completed packaging materials created using the raw supplies, and a processing element configured to receive data corresponding to the one or more machine components. The processing element determines using at least one of an initial raw supply level, a completed packaging materials level, one or more current packaging material orders, and/or historical operating parameters of the one or more machine components to determine if additional raw supplies are required.
In some embodiment, a machine for creating protective packaging is disclosed. The machine includes a plurality of electromechanical components configured to create protective packaging items, a housing enclosing at least a portion of the plurality of electromechanical components, and a controller communicatively coupled one or more of the electromechanical components and securely mounted to the housing, wherein the controller selectively modifies one or more output characteristics of the one or more electromechanical components to generate the protective packaging items.

The present disclosure relates to inflatable cushions. The inflatable cushions may include a first ply extensive in longitudinal and transverse directions, and a second ply extensive in the longitudinal and transverse directions. The second ply may be overlayed on and sealed to the first ply such that the plies define therebetween a plurality of inflation chambers. The inflation chambers may be inflatable with a fluid and operable to contain the fluid. At least the first or second ply may include a layer of a first polymer material that has a bi-directional orientation. One or more lines of weakness may be formed by a plurality of perforations that facilitate tearing through the plies to separate portions of the inflatable cushion. At least one of the perforations may have a tip that is oriented at an angle displaced to the transverse direction.

Method and machine for the manufacture of air pillows
Devices and methods for forming air pillows are described. In accordance with embodiments of the invention, an apparatus for manufacturing air-filled pillows from a tube material includes a plurality of support rollers, a drive means, an injector means, and a sealing means. The plurality of support rollers support a roll of a tube material along an outer circumferential extent of the roll, in which the tube material includes two opposing sheets joined along at least one longitudinal edge thereof. The drive means draws the tube material from the roll along the support rollers, the injector means injects air into an interior space between the two opposing sheets of the tube material drawn from the roll, and the sealing means seals the two opposing sheets together with the injected air entrapped in the interior space therebetween.
