The fluid-cooled toolpack generally includes a chill plate that is biased with a spring into contact with a can-forming die. The chill plate may be generally ring shaped and include annular heat pipes to carry heat away from the can-forming die to a set of heatsink fins at the top of the chill plate. Cooling fluid, such as water or air, can be used to remove heat from the heatsink fins. The bottom forming assembly is lightweight, compact and comprises outer and cylinder housing assemblies which house a clamp ring retainer assembly, a transfer piston assembly and an annular spring member. The clamp ring retainer assembly includes biasing members to float a clamp ring thereby centering the clamp ring and domer die plug with respect to the ram of a bodymaker.
