A banding machine is disclosed including a band guide, a band drive, a rotary encoder and a controller. The band guide is provided with at least one distance sensor. With the aid of the at least one distance sensor, distances to a packaged good lying within the band guide can be determined. With the aid of the band drive, a band can be inserted into the band guide and retracted. The rotary encoder can be used to detect a retracted length of the band or the differential length, which is the difference between the inserted length and the retracted length of the band. The controller is designed to determine a desired value taking into account the distances determined by means of the at least one distance sensor. The controller is designed to control the band drive in such a way that, during retraction, the band is initially retracted at a first retraction speed and, as soon as the retracted length or the difference length corresponds to the desired value, the band is retracted at a second retraction speed which is lower than the first retraction speed.
A curved guide of a band-width-adjustable banderoling machine and a corresponding insert allow the curved guide to be adapted to bands of different widths. The curved guide mounted on the banderoling machine has a band guiding surface which is restricted on a first side and unrestricted on a second side. The insert has a restriction surface which, in the assembled state, is intersected by the continuation of the band guiding surface. The restriction surface is selected in such a way that in the assembled state the distance between the first side of the band guiding surface and the restriction surface is adapted to the width of the desired band. The restriction surface of the insert restricts the band guiding surface on the second side. In addition to such an adaptable curved guide, a banderoling machine preferably also comprises an adaptable band drive with an at least partially replaceable band channel.

A banding machine (10) comprises a band guide (50), a band drive, a rotary encoder and a controller (60). The band guide (50) is provided with at least one distance sensor (1a-f). With the aid of the at least one distance sensor (1a,b,c), distances (2a-d) to a good to be packaged (52) which lies within the band guide (50) can be determined. By means of the band drive (38), a band (22) can be inserted into the band guide (50) and retracted. By means of the rotary encoder (44), a retracted length of the band or the differential length, which is the difference between the inserted length and the retracted length of the band, can be sensed. The controller (60) is designed to determine a setpoint value in accordance with the distances (2a-d) determined by means of the at least one distance sensor (1a,b,c). The controller (60) is designed to control the band drive (38) such that, during the return, the band (22) is first retracted with a first return speed and, as soon as the retracted length or the differential length corresponds to the setpoint value, the band (22) is retracted with a second return speed, which is less than the first return speed.

A curved guide (18) of a band-width-adjustable banderoling machine and a corresponding insert (20) allow for the adjustment of the curved guide (18) to bands of differing widths (19a,b,c). The curved guide (18) mounted on the banderoling machine has a band-guiding surface (181) that is limited on a first side (1811) and unlimited on a second side (1812). The insert (20) has a limiting surface (201), which is intersected by the extension of the band-guiding surface (181) in the assembled state. The limiting surface (201) is selected in such a way that, in the assembled state, the distance between the first side (1811) of the band-guiding surface (181) and the limiting surface (201) is adapted to the width of the desired band. The limiting surface (201) of the insert limits the band-guiding surface on the second side. Alongside an adjustable curved guide of this type, a banderoling machine preferably also comprises an adjustable band drive having an at least partially exchangeable band channel.

METHOD FOR WRAPPING STRAPS AROUND OBJECTS, AND CORRESPONDING MACHINES
The invention relates to a method for wrapping a strap around at least one object. The at least one object is surrounded by a strap, and the strap is arranged around the at least one object in the form of an object strap loop such that at least two strap portions are arranged so as to overlap and are connected. In a region in which the at least two strap portions overlap, a counterpressure plate is introduced between the at least one object and the strap, and the at least two overlapping strap portions are pressed against the counterpressure plate so as to be connected. The strap is guided through a strap guiding device (7) and/or is positioned before introducing the counterpressure plate (9) such that a defined clearance is produced for introducing the counterpressure plate.
