Abstract
The blade holder 100 has a movable plate 126 and a fixture 154. A rotatable bolt 118 in operative engagement with a block 132 attached to the plate. A motor 114 is in operative engagement with the bolt. The motor rotates the bolt 118 to move the plate 126 towards the fixture 154 to grip a first set of blades 182 until a torque threshold value is reached. The processor determines a number of blades included in the set of blades based on the number of rotations of the bolt. A first grinding portion of a rotating abrasive belt 186 is applied against the set of blades (having width (W1)) to sharpen the set of blades. Sliding a vise 102 sideways a distance (W1) until a second grinding portion is aligned on top of the second set of blades.

Abstract
The method is for profiling blades (406) with a belt (402) grinding profiling machine (400). The blades (406) are mounted into a vise (432). A vertical position of the template (404) is adjusted by rotating the rotatable knob (448). The motor (408) is turned on to rotate the grinding belt (402) over the grinding wheel (410). The guide wheel (424) engages the underside profile (420) of the template (404). The guide wheel (424) of the template (404) guides movement of the grinding wheel (414) mounted on the common axle by moving the guide wheel (424) along the underside profile (420) of the template (404). The grinding belt (402) grinds material off the underside of the blade (406) until a portion of the underside profile (420) of the template (404) is copied to the underside (422) of the blade (406).

Abstract
The method is for sharpening a blade. An automatic sharpening apparatus (100) is provided that has a housing (102) with an elongate opening (104) defined therein. A blade (106) is placed inside the elongate opening (104). The blade (106) is tightened between self-centered clamp holders (137, 138). The rotation of the grinding wheel (120) is turned on. The rotating grinding-wheel (120) engages an underside of the blade (106) and automatically moves along the blade (106) by following a contour (107) of the blade (106). While the grinding wheel (120) moves along the blade (106), a counter-weight (132) provides a counter-weight to the grinding wheel (120). The blade (106) is sharpened while the blade is stationary inside the elongate opening (104) of the housing (102).

Abstract
The method is for sharpening a blade. An automatic sharpening apparatus (200) is provided that has a holder (204). A blade (214) is placed into the holder (204). A grinding-wheel driving motor (233), in operative engagement with a wheel (234) on a spindle (232), rotates a grinding wheel (212a, 212b, 212c) via a belt (236). A grinding assembly motor (208) moves the grinding wheel (212a, 212b, 212c) in an x-direction towards the blade (214). A linear motor (210) moves the grinding wheel (212a, 212b, 212c) from a first position to a second position in a z-direction without moving the grinding-wheel driving motor (233). The rotating grinding wheel (212a, 212b, 212c) engaging the blade (214). The grinding wheel (212a, 212b, 212c) sharpens the blade (214).
