Abstract
An applicator includes a main body, a storage chamber disposed in the main body, an application body disposed at an end of the main body to allow application of the liquid stored in the storage chamber. A partition for partitioning between the storage chamber side and the application body side, includes a flow passage to supply the liquid in the storage chamber to the application body. An axially movable air communication pipe having an air port open to the storage chamber, which abuts on the partition to close the flow passage, communicates the storage chamber with the atmosphere while having the flow passage closed. A spring member for urging the air communication pipe to abut on the partition, and separating the air communication pipe from the partition through vibration of the main body allows guiding of the liquid in the storage chamber.

Abstract
In a structure in which a liquid (e.g., an ink IK) stored in a storage chamber 131 is guided to an application body 111 by the interposition of a relay member 151, the present invention is provided with: a gas-liquid exchange area EA in which the ink IK which has been supplied from the storage chamber 131 is occluded in an occluding body 122 (having a weaker capillary force than the relay member 151) for gas-liquid exchange and guided to the relay member 151; and a reservoir area RA in which the ink IK which has been pushed out from the storage chamber 131 and has passed through the gas-liquid exchange area EA is occluded in an occluding body 123 (having a weaker capillary force than the occluding body 123 for gas-liquid exchange) for a reservoir and temporarily held. Both areas EA, RA are connected via a gap having a fixed shape (connecting path 124) that causes capillarity of a force which is weaker than in the gas-liquid exchange area EA, and stronger than in the reservoir area RA.

Abstract
An air and liquid exchange area EA and a reservoir area RA are provided in a structure for guiding liquid (for example, ink IK) stored in a storage chamber 131 to an applicator body 111 through a relay member 151. The air and liquid exchange area EA suctions and holds the ink IK supplied from the storage chamber 131 using capillary action that is weaker than in the relay member 151, and guides the ink IK to the relay member 151. The reservoir area RA encloses the relay member 151 across a gap (a second gap G2) at a position connected with the air and liquid exchange area EA, and temporarily holds the ink IK pushed out from the storage chamber 131 and through the air and liquid exchange area EA.

Abstract
A liquid supply device has a main body having a hollow portion; a partition that divides the hollow portion into a liquid storage chamber; a reservoir chamber communicated with the atmosphere; and a through hole formed in the partition. An application material is provided in the main body and applies the liquid in the liquid storage chamber. A porous relay core supplies the liquid in the storage chamber to the application material and is inserted in the through hole to form a gap with an inner wall of same, the gap holding the liquid by capillary force. A partition extending portion extends from the partition and protrudes to the liquid storage chamber side along the relay core. The relay core is inserted to form a gap holding the liquid by capillary force.
