Abstract

A golf club system includes a golf club, a detection unit, and a smart tag. The golf club has a golf club head, a shaft, and a grip. The detection unit is standing on or raised above the ground plane. The smart tag is a computer-readable marking on the golf club. The smart tag is detected by the detection unit when the golf club is positioned within a detection zone associated with a sensor of the detection unit. The detection unit collects data associated with a user swinging the golf club for transmission to a computing device. The sensor defines the detection zone as a volume extending to an extent of a radius R about a reference axis that is perpendicular to the ground plane and extending vertically along the reference axis above the ground plane.

Abstract

A process of manufacturing a golf club component includes the step of spreading a layer of powdered material over a build plane defined over a build platform. Another step includes bonding, using an energy source, portions of the layer of powdered material. A different step includes repeating the spreading and bonding until the golf club component is formed. The process further includes the step of extracting loose powdered material from the golf club component. The build plane is offset from a ground plane between about 5 degrees and about 160 degrees. The ground plane is defined as a horizontal plane parallel to the ground when the golf club component is at address, and the build plane is not a face angle of the golf club component.

Abstract

An article of footwear includes an upper attached to a sole structure to define an interior cavity and a closure system. The sole structure includes a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region. The closure system includes a closure mechanism, a securing element and a cord that is operably engaged with the upper of the footwear and the closure mechanism. The closure mechanism is actuated to adjust the footwear from a loosened configuration to a tightened configuration. The securing element extends across the upper from a medial side to a lateral side. The securing element only partially covers a winding region formed by the cord proximate a tongue of the footwear. The securing element has a fixed end that is permanently fastened to the sole structure.

Abstract

An article of footwear includes an upper and a sole assembly defining a heel region, a midfoot region, and a forefoot region. The sole assembly includes a first component having a plurality of protrusions extending from a first surface thereof, such that the plurality of protrusions extend laterally along the first component and are spaced apart in a heel-toe direction. The sole assembly includes a second component including a plurality of apertures extending into a second surface thereof. Each of the plurality of protrusions is arranged within a corresponding one of the plurality of apertures to mechanically couple the first component to the second component. The plurality of apertures includes a first aperture that defines a variable aperture width measured parallel to the heel to toe direction. The variable aperture width increases between the second surface and a blind end of the first aperture.

Abstract

A method of manufacturing a golf club includes receiving user information and selecting at least one parameter of the golf club by a user that is selected from a plurality of parameters. Additional steps include generating a design model of the golf club based on user information or at least one parameter of the golf club in a design space, generating a 3D lattice environment, inlaying the lattice environment into the design model of the golf club, reorienting a first lattice array of the lattice environment according to the user information, adjusting, based on the user interface, at least a thickness, a shape, or a density of a lattice beam of the first lattice array, customizing the at least one parameter based on at least a swing characteristic or a location of center of gravity of the golf club, and printing using an additive manufacturing device.

Abstract

A process of manufacturing a golf club head. The process comprises the step of spreading a thin layer of metal powder over a build plane defined over a build platform. The process also comprises the step of selectively depositing droplets of a binding agent over the thin layer of metal powder in order to bond the metal powder. The process further comprises the step of sintering a green part body to form the golf club head. The golf club head comprises a lattice structure positioned within an internal cavity of the golf club head. The build plane is offset from a ground plane by between about 5 degrees and about 160 degrees. The ground plane defined as a horizontal plane parallel to the ground when the golf club head is at address. The build plane is not a face angle of the golf club head.

Abstract

An article of footwear includes an upper and a sole structure coupled to the upper. The sole structure defines a ground engaging surface and includes a cushion member and a rigid plate. The cushion member defines a bottom surface that forms a first portion of the ground engaging surface. The rigid plate includes a first segment positioned between the upper and the bottom surface of the cushion member, and a second segment that extends outward from the first segment. The second segment curves to extend along a lateral surface of the cushion member such that the second segment defines a first portion of an outermost lateral surface of the sole structure.

Abstract

A method of manufacturing an article of footwear includes forming an upper that includes a bottom portion, an external medial side, an external lateral side, and an internal cavity. The bottom portion extends underneath a user's foot. The method further includes inserting a last into the internal cavity of the upper, printing a framework onto the bottom portion, and removing the last from the internal cavity. The framework includes a plurality of segments extending along the bottom portion and between the external medial side and the external lateral side of the upper.

Abstract

A method of fabricating a cork composite material is disclosed herein. The method includes providing a plurality of cork particles, adding a binder material to the cork particles to form a mixture of the cork particles and the binder material, transferring the mixture to a mold, applying energy to the mixture, cooling the mixture, and removing the cork composite material from the mold. Further, the energy includes electromagnetic radiation that fuses the cork particles with the binder material. Cooling the mixture solidifies the mixture, thereby forming a cork composite material.
