An apparatus for filtering a suspension has a housing with an inlet receiving the suspension to be filtered, an outlet for the clear filtered filtrate, and a drain for removal of filter cake. The housing has a cylindrical part centered on an axis. An output ring pipe is connected to the outlet and externally surrounds the cylindrical part. A plurality of segmental filter holders are fittable into the cylindrical part from above and together form a circular insert with each holder forming an inlet chamber having an outflow fitting connectable to the annular output pipe. Respective sets of filter elements each formed by a respective strip-shaped support and a mesh filter sock surrounding the support are carried on the holder and open into the respective inlet chambers. A removable cover upwardly closes the cylindrical part above the inserts.

A milling apparatus has a housing, a drive shaft extending along and rotatable about an axis in the housing and an axially compressible and radially expansible washer stack on the front end of the drive shaft. A tool is held by the on the shaft. A bolt projects radially in a slot through the shaft and is limitedly axially displaceable in the shaft. An actuator element shiftable axially in the passage projects axially forward out of the drive shaft and is fixed in the bolt. A clamping assembly axially compresses and radially expands the stack so as to lock the tool to the drive shaft. A spring assembly is braced axially forward against the housing and axially rearward against the bolt. A piston axially displaceable on the drive shaft in the housing bears axially forward on the bolt.
An apparatus for sharpening a beet knife has a plurality of roof-shaped blades next to each other on a knife body has a centering device carrying a centering piece and movable in a Y-direction, a milling device with a mechanically rotatable side miller with a roof-like milling edge movable in the Y-direction toward and away from the centering device, and a guide extending in an X-direction substantially perpendicular to the Y-direction. A grab shiftable in the X-direction on the guide is designed to hold the knife to be sharpened, and respective drives are connected to the centering and milling devices for moving same toward and away from each other in the Y-direction and to the grab for moving same along the guide in the X-direction.
Glass articles are made by continuously emitting a plurality of strands of molten glass spaced different distances from respective preform molds, cutting through each of the strands by moving together a respective pair of blades to form a respective gob, and transporting the gobs through the respective distances to the preform molds. The pairs of blades are operated, that is moved from an open to a closed position, such that they cut through the respective strands one after the other with the first formed gob traveling through the longest distance to the respective preform mold and the last formed gob traveling through the shortest distance to the respective preform mold.
