A vehicle geofence system having a plurality of digital license plates and an electronic device wirelessly communicating with the digital license plates. Each of the digital license plates is attached to a vehicle and configured to receive location data. The electronic device is programmed to define a plurality of events for each of the digital license plates, define a geofence boundary, for each of the digital license plates, based on at least one of the events, receive the location data from each of the digital license plates, and determine whether one of the events is triggered based on location of each of the digital license plates and the defined geofence boundary.

Abstract

A display system having a dynamic display and a lighting system. The lighting system includes a first light source for generating a first light within a first optical spectrum, a second light source for generating a second light within a second optical spectrum, a first sensor activated when detecting light within the first optical spectrum, and a second sensor activated when detecting light within the second optical spectrum. One variation of a preferred system for rendering content on a vehicle includes a display, a memory, a communication module, and a processor. The display is configured to mount adjacent an exterior surface of a vehicle. The memory is configured to store a plurality of executable applications including a vehicle identification application and an application elected by a user. The communication module is configured to download the user-elected application to the memory. The processor is configured to selectively execute applications to control visual content rendered on the display, wherein the display renders vehicle identification information when the vehicle identification application executes, and wherein the display renders additional visual content when the user-elected application executes.

One embodiment includes a display system for use on the exterior of a vehicle having a display, a vehicle speed sensor, and a processor coupled to the vehicle speed sensor. The processor is configured to implement one of three operational modes of the display system based on the speed and state of the vehicle: a first operational mode, wherein a first content, including identification and/or registration information of the vehicle is rendered on the display at a first power consumption level; a second operational mode, wherein a second content, including a message, identification and/or registration information of the vehicle, is rendered on the display; and a third operational mode, wherein content is rendered on the display at a second power consumption level less than the first power consumption level.
