Abstract

A method for manufacturing a quadrangular shell having five faces and non-developable trihedral connectors between the faces. Plies having continuous fibers are cut to cover the five faces of the shell outside of the trihedral connector zones. Four connector components consolidated in the shape of the trihedral connectors are obtained. Each of the components includes an integration zone between the plies. Plies are positioned and laid up. The four consolidated components are inserted in the trihedral connection zones by inserting the integration zones between two plies to form an assembly obtain a preform. The preform is placed in a tool and the consolidation of the stack of fibrous plies is performed by subjecting the assembly to a predetermined pressure/temperature cycle.

Abstract

A method for making a three-dimensional composite part with a thermoplastic matrix and continuous reinforcement. A pre-impregnated fibrous perform is obtained by three-dimensional knitting. The preform is placed on the punch or in the matrix of a tooling, defining between them a sealed closed cavity. The tooling is closed so as to apply a first pressure to the preform. The cavity is brought to the melting temperature of the polymer impregnating the preform by maintaining the first pressure. The cavity comprising the preform is cooled to a temperature suitable for demolding by maintaining the second pressure. The mold is opened and the part is demolded.

Abstract

A method and device for pre-heating a first molding surface of a mold with an open position and a closed position defining a closed cavity between the first pre-heated molding surface and a second molding surface. A core is inductively heated outside the mold by placing the core inside a coil having an AC current passing there through. The core is inserted between the molding surfaces of the mold in the open position. The first molding surface is preheated by transferring the heat between the core and the first molding surface. The core is then removed and the mold is closed.

Abstract

The invention concerns a device for heating a surface by induction, in particular for molding or transforming a part made of thermoplastic or thermosetting composite material. The device comprises a body having at least one portion made of magnetic and heating conducting material wherein is provided a plurality of closed cavities proximate the surface to be heated, each cavity surrounding a field winding. The heat produced by induction on the walls of the cavity is transferred by conduction to the heating surface. The distance between the cavities and the position of said cavities relative to the heating surface are such that the heating is substantially uniform on said surface.

Abstract

The present invention concerns a device for molding of thermoplastic matrix composite materials or thermosetting materials. Two mold casings that are mobile relative to each other, electrically conductive material include a molding zone designed to be in contact with the material to be transformed, and an induction circuit for generating a magnetic field. The faces of one of the two mold casings are situated so as to be facing induction circuit, except for the molding zones, being coated with a shielding layer made of a non-magnetic material preventing the magnetic field from penetrating into the mold casings. The mold casings are electrically insulated from each other during the molding phase to define an air gap wherein flows the magnetic field that induces currents at the surface of the molding zones, thus localizing the heating at the interface between the molding zone and the material to be transformed.

Abstract

The invention relates to a moulding device (1) for the conversion of a material (40), comprising: - a lower mould body (10), or die, made from an electrically conductive material and comprising a moulding zone (14) intended to be in contact with the material to be converted; an upper mould body (12), or punch, made from an electrically conductive material and comprising a moulding zone (16) intended to be in contact with the material to be converted; a removable intermediate part (18), or core, made from an electrically conductive material and intended to be inserted between the die (10) and the punch (12); induction means (30) capable of generating a magnetic field that surrounds the die (10), the punch (12) and the intermediate part (18); these three components being electrically insulated in pairs, so that the opposite faces of the intermediate part (18) and of the die (10) on the one hand and of the intermediate part (18) and of the punch (12) on the other hand, delimit two air gaps (20, 22) in which the magnetic field flows which induces currents at the surface of the moulding zones (14, 16) of the die (10) and of the punch (12), thus making it possible to localize the action of the inductors at the surface of the moulding zones (14, 16).

Abstract

The invention relates to a heater (10) for converting a material (44), comprising a lower mould body (12), or die, made of an electrically conducting material and having a moulding zone (14) intended to be brought into contact with the material to be converted; an upper body (20) having no moulding zone, made of an electrically conductive material; inductor means (30) for generating a magnetic field surrounding the die (12) and the upper body (20); the die (12) and the body (20) being electrically insulated from each other during the induction heating phase, so that the opposing faces of these two bodies define a gap (40) in which the magnetic field circulates, said field inducing currents in the surface of the moulding zone (14) of the die (12), thus making it possible to localize the action of the inductors at the moulding zone/material to be converted interface; and deformable compression means (42, 46) placed between the die (12) and the upper body (20), which are capable of exerting uniform pressure on the material to be converted.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a pipe or tube (10) for fluid flow, in particular a hose tube which comprises sections provided with rings (12, 14, 16) and whose remaining section is devoid thereof. The inventive method consists in using a smooth devoid of rings tube at an ambient temperature, in inserting said tube, also at the ambient temperature, in a mould (20), which comprises shaping surfaces (24) and is provided with inductor means for heating said shaping surfaces, in heating the shaping surfaces (24) to a temperature required for softening the tube areas adjacent to the mould heating surfaces, in blowing a pressurised fluid, such as air, into the tube for applying the soften surfaces to the shaping surfaces (24) in such a way that the rings are formed and in cooling the tube in the ring areas.

Abstract

The invention concerns a device for heating a surface by induction, in particular for molding or transforming a part made of thermoplastic or thermosetting composite material. The device comprises a body (16) having at least one portion (18) made of magnetic and heat conducting material wherein is provided a plurality of closed cavities proximate the surface (12) to be heated, each cavity surrounding a field winding (24). The heat produced by induction on the walls of the cavity is transferred by conduction to the heating surface. The distance between the cavities and the position of said cavities relative to the heating surface are such that the heating is substantially uniform on said surface.
