Abstract

The invention relates to a pocket chain wheel (1) for driving and/or deflecting a diagonally running link chain, in particular a round steel chain. The pocket chain wheel (1) is provided with a groove-shaped chain receiving area (12) which circulates in the circumferential direction (4) and which has two rows (14) of pockets (16), said rows being offset relative to each other in the circumferential direction. A respective chain link of the link chain can be received in each of the pockets (16), and each pair of pockets of a row (14), said pockets adjoining each other in the circumferential direction, is separated by a respective tooth (18). In order to fix the link chain in the position thereof and provide a flat support for the chain link, a trough-shaped depression (24) is provided on the base of each pocket, said depression being designed to complement an outer contour which extends from the location of one nose of a chain link to the location of the other nose of the chain link. The depression (24) thus forms a support for the chain link into which the chain link can fit. The depression (24) stabilizes the position of the round steel chain when the chain runs over the depression. At the same time, the flat support reduces the development of noise during operation. Finally, the bed (24) formed by the depression for the chain link prevents the chain link from rising up, which could otherwise lead to a tooth being missed while the link chain is running onto the pocket chain wheel.

Abstract
