Abstract

Within the scope of the invention, a gyrator for AC signals has been developed. Said gyrator comprises a Hall effect material, means for passing a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane or surface of said Hall effect material through said Hall effect material, at least one input gate for coupling an alternating current (I1; I2) into the Hall effect material and at least one output gate for coupling out an output voltage (U2; U1), which is a measure of the Hall voltage generated by the coupled-in alternating current. Each of these gates has at least two connections which are connected to the outside world. In accordance with the invention, at least one connection of each gate is connected to a connection electrode, which is electrically insulated by the Hall effect material and forms a capacitor with the Hall effect material. The alternating current is therefore coupled into the Hall effect material capacitively, and the output voltage is coupled out of the Hall effect material capacitively. The capacitive coupling of the connection electrodes presets boundary conditions for the potential in the interior of the Hall effect material which do not necessarily bring about sudden changes in potential. The occurrence of "not spots" at which energy is dissipated in the region of sudden changes in potential can thus advantageously be reduced or even completely suppressed.

Abstract

The invention relates to a digital transmitter with clock domain change. The transmitter has at least one input (data_in) for a digital base band signal of a given base band clock, wherein the input signal has 3 or more bits per symbol that are assigned to a complex output signal. The transmitter has at least one input (clkjn) for a clock signal, which corresponds to the given base band clock, at least one input (clk_div, clk_in) for a signal, which corresponds to the local oscillator signal (LO) or to a split local oscillator signal (LO), wherein the frequency of the signal is greater than the frequency of the given base band clock. The transmitter also has at least one digital-analogue transducer (D/A), which generates an analogue prepared signal from a prepared digital base band signal, and a frequency converter (MOD), which is designed to convert the analogue prepared signal with the aid of the local oscillator signal (LO) into a frequency in order to form a high-frequency output signal. In the transmitter, the input signal is first subjected to clock domain synchronisation (CDS), wherein the clock domain synchronisation (CDS) is suitable for synchronising generally irrational cycles from the frequency of the local oscillator signal and the frequency of the base band clock in order to subsequently make the clock-synchronised signal into the prepared digital base band signal pulse (unit see below?) in a high sampling filter (UCF) with the aid of a time control unit (TCE). Abstract

The present invention relates to an optically end-pumped amplifier comprising a plate-shaped optical gain medium (6, 7) and a plurality of pump laser units (9) for optically pumping the gain medium (6, 7) through at least one of the narrow side surfaces (17) thereof. The pump laser units (9) are designed such that the pump laser radiation (12), upon passing through the gain medium (6, 7), has an elongated beam cross section having a short axis and a long axis running parallel to the main surfaces (15) of the gain medium (6, 7) and propagates freely through the gain medium (6, 7) with respect to the short axis. They are arranged here such that the beams from a plurality of pump laser units (9) in each case impinge on one of the pumped side surfaces (17) at an angle with respect to one another with their principal axes in a plane perpendicular to the short axis, wherein the beam cross sections of the beams are superimposed on one another. With the proposed amplifier, the pump laser units can be constructed more compactly, more simply and thus more cost-effectively in comparison with known arrangements, with the same amplifier power.

Using this design, an optical resonator of high finesse, said resonator having a location with an intensity maximum on the optical axis, can be implemented in a simple manner, for example comprising only two curved mirrors with a design freedom with respect to the resonator length and the focus diameter.

Abstract

A phase noise detection apparatus comprises a laser beam, an optical resonator coupled to the laser beam at a coupling point and a photodetector receiving light from the laser beam. The laser beam is preferably guided in a waveguide. The laser beam and the resonator coupled to the laser beam convert phase noise of light transported by the laser beam prior to the coupling point into intensity noise of light transported by the laser beam immediately after the coupling point. The intensity noise after the coupling point is generated according to the phase noise prior to the coupling point. The intensity noise is converted into an electrical signal by the photodetector. The electrical signal generated by the photodetector is sent through a first signal path and a second signal path such that the first signal path transports a signal substantially proportional to the intensity noise and such that the signal is integrated in an integrator in the second path. The relative gain of the two signal paths can be adjusted and the overall gain of the signal path is preferably such that the optical phase modulator at least partially cancels said phase noise in the optical domain.

Abstract

The method for performing magnetic resonance measurements on a sample according to the present invention, in which a first predetermined number of pulse trains each comprising a second predetermined number of pulses spaced by a predetermined time interval (Δt) are applied for excitation each having a constant amplitude, is characterized in that the pulse trains are modulated by a bent function, wherein after each pulse data is sampled. Preferably a square number m2 of pulses is generated being constant in power, and the Walsh transform of the sequence of their phases is constant in power, too. This means that the power of the excitation in time and frequency domain is constant. The method according to the invention allows the reduction of battery capacity for mobile NMR applications and to undercut SAR values due to the small excitation power necessary to create time signals 5 with reasonable signal to noise ratio.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the tomographic reconstruction of the distribution of a measurement variable within a sample from values of an auxiliary variable, a method for determining the optimum measurement points for the auxiliary variable, as well as apparatuses for carrying out the methods. According to the invention, when determining the distribution of the measurement variable, the values of the auxiliary variable are weighted on the basis of a relevance measure. Relevance measures can, for example, measure how strongly the value of the auxiliary variable measured at the assessed location reacts to changes in the measurement variable, how large the resolveable structures in the reconstructed distribution of the measurement variable are which are changed in the event of a change in the value of the auxiliary variable measured at the assessed point, or how much information about the overall distribution of the measurement variable is contained in the value of the auxiliary variable measured at the assessed point. It is thus possible to obtain better information, from far fewer recorded values of the auxiliary variable, about the distribution of the measurement variable in the sample than according to the prior art.

In order to prevent joining defects in the casting (1), it is proposed to provide the mold (4) with at least one heat conducting element (6, 8) made of a heat conductor, which has at least twice the heat conductivity than the ceramic material and through which a heat flow can be conducted between the hollow space and an outer surface (13) of the mold (4). It is further proposed that such a mold (4) is used as part of the method and that during the cooling of the metal a heat flow is conducted through the at least one heat conducting element (6, 8).

Abstract

In a method for embedding steganographic information into the signal information of a signal encoder, a solution is to be created, which enables steganographic information being embedded into the signal information of a signal encoder such that a reduction of the voice quality is largely avoided. This is achieved by means of providing data information, particularly voice information, selecting steganographic information from a quantity of steganographic information, generating a code word from a code book provided by means of the signal encoder on the basis of the code elements forming the code book such that with the use of the code word generated within the scope of a transmission standard associated with the code book the data information is encoded into signal information containing the code word and/or making reference to the code word; and by the code word generated having an additional feature that can be calculated on the basis of the code elements forming the code word, wherein the additional feature represents the steganographic information.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for the recording of process parameters of reaction fluids in several microreactors which are continuously agitated, at least until the termination of the reaction in all the microreactors. The process parameters in the microreactor are recorded during the reaction by means of at least one sensor optical system. According to the invention, the reliability of the method may be increased, whereby, during the recording of the value of a process parameter, for example, on recording an instantaneous value of the auto-fluorescence of the reaction fluids, the sensor optical system is held stationary. The relative movement of the agitated microreactor and each sensor optical system thus produced is not problematical when the electromagnetic radiation from each sensor optical system is introduced exclusively into one of the microreactors concerned during the recording of the process parameter in said microreactor and the radiation emitted from the reaction fluid is only incident on the sensor of the corresponding sensor optical system.
