An apparatus for handling plastic preforms includes a feeding line for preforms that comprise a preform body and a preform mouth, a conditioning oven, a setdown device for the preforms being provided which is designed to feed the preforms to a transfer or blow-molding carousel, the conditioning oven being associated with a closed conveyance circuit which includes supporting elements to support respective preforms. Abstract

A device for moving an article (2) to be wrapped by means of a machine, comprises a support body (3) centrally fixed on a vertical rotation shaft (4). The device (1) is provided with at least a pliers means (5) connected, for turning with it, to the support body (3) and provided with at least two jaws (6, 7) and with opening means (8) connected to at least one of the jaws (6, 7) to hold and to release the article (2). At least one pliers means (5) is connected to the support body (3) by means of respective rotation means (9) for rotating said at least one pliers means (5) and the article hold thereby, around an axis almost radial in respect to the support body (3). When the article, in a predetermined inlet position facing the at least one pliers means (5), is positioned between the jaws (6, 7) of said opened pliers means, at least one of said jaws takes it following the closure of said at least one of said jaws made by the opening means (8). The support body (3) and the rotation means (9) rotate the at least one pliers means (5) and the article (2) respectively around the vertical axis and the radial axis of the support body until the article reaches a predetermined position and a predetermined outlet orientation. In said predetermined position and orientation the opening means (8) opens the pliers means (5) releasing the article correctly positioned for successive workings.

Abstract

A compression molding machine, for compression molding a closure shell having a base wall with an opening and in accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, includes a male mold section and a female mold section having associated surfaces that oppose each other to form a cavity for compression molding the base wall of the closure shell. An annular bead on one of these surfaces cooperates with the opposing other surface to compression mold a disk connected to the base wall by a thin frangible web. The disk and the shell are stripped separately from the mold so that the shell emerges from the machine with the opening formed in the shell base wall by removal of the disk within the machine.

Abstract

A mold core includes a forming pin having a hollow interior and an end wall. A passage, preferably in the form of a hollow tube, extends into the hollow interior of the forming pin and has an end sealingly secured at a position spaced from the end wall of the forming pin. A poppet valve is disposed on the end wall of the forming pin. The poppet valve is responsive to air pressure within the passage to open and permit flow of air through the end wall of the forming pin to assist stripping of molded articles from the mold core. The poppet valve includes a valve element having an outer end at the end face of the forming pin and an inner end adjacent to the end of the passage. A spring preferably biases the valve element to a closed position. The spring preferably comprises a coil spring captured in compression between the valve element and the forming pin.

An apparatus for inverting the stop flange on a tamper-indicating closure, from an axially outwardly oriented position as molded to an axially inwardly oriented position for use, includes a support base for supporting the closure such that the stop flange as molded is spaced from and oriented away from the support base.
