Abstract

An apparatus for position detection in a mine vehicle, a mine vehicle, and a method for monitoring and providing position data in a mining vehicle. The apparatus ( 10 ) comprises one or more sensing devices for generating position sensing data on one or more monitored elements. A control unit (CU) calculates position data in response to the received position sensing data. One or more cameras (11) are implemented as the sensing device. The monitored element is provided with several illuminating spots (12) providing the monitored element with patterns of spots (13). Then the camera generates position data on the several illuminating spots of the spot pattern. Further, the control unit calculates position and orientation of the monitored element in a three dimensional coordinate system.
