The invention provides for a pharmaceutical preparation for determining biogenic amine induced food intolerance, comprising biogenic amine components in a pharmaceutical formulation, wherein the components are at least histamine, cadaverin, putrescin and tyramine, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and its in vivo diagnostic use, comprising a) administering the preparation to a subject; b) determining at least one symptom associated with the Biogenic Amine Intolerance Syndrome (BAIS); and c) diagnosing BAIS based on a result of said determination; as well as a kit for in vivo diagnostic use, comprising a) the preparation as described above; b) instructions for administering said preparation to a subject, and for determining at least one symptom associated with BAIS; and c) at least one score card listing the severity of the at least one symptom observed in response to administration.
