Method and apparatus for controlling combustion in a burner
A method and apparatus that applies corrections to the mass flow rate of combustion air into a gas or oil-fired, forced-draft burner, and thus provides for correcting the air-fuel ratio, by directly measuring the combustion air temperature and/or the barometric pressure of the combustion air, and using these measurements to develop a fan speed drive signal that corrects the volume of air inlet to the burner system without the use of the complex and expensive fully metered control systems, or elaborate feedback systems, or systems that require real-time combustion analysis, and the like.
An operating and control package for at least one pressurized burner. The operating and control package comprises a controller and a gas control device. The controller is an integrated packaged unit for supplying and controlling a pre-mixed air/gas pressurized burner. A housing is provided for containing the controller. The housing is preferably located at the end of the burner manifold. The gas control device comprises a gas control valve for receiving gas entering the control package and a premix blower located within the housing for receiving gas from the gas control valve and air entering the control package. The gas control device mixes the air and gas to form a pressurized combustible mixture which is fed into the burner.
A combustion burner resulting in low oxides of nitrogen includes a primary combustion zone, for use as an ignition source. The primary combustion zone locating within a combustion chamber, and being separated from the base of the combustion chamber by a wall. A burner provides a secondary oxidant stream that is delivered to the combustion chamber at the base of an exterior wall, to entrain and mix with flue gases present in the combustion chamber. Then secondary fuel is injected into the resulting secondary oxidant-flue gas mixture. Combustion of the secondary fuel with the oxidant flue gas mixture results in lower concentration of oxides of nitrogen emitted to the atmosphere.
