Abstract

A method for displaying and processing an image captured by an optical system used to simulate a rear-view system of a vehicle, includes capturing the image, identifying primary edges of a first image of the plurality of images, locating a first border within the first image that extends to part of a first edge of the first image, identifying secondary edges of a second image of the plurality of images, selecting a second edge from the secondary edges closest in position and orientation to the part of the first edge of the first image, locating a second border within the second image that extends to the second edge, and adjusting the second image such that a second part of the second border of the second image aligns with the first border of the first image, wherein the optical system simultaneously simulates both a plane mirror and a spotter mirror in form of a spherical mirror in the single image to provide a plurality of optical subsystems.

Abstract

A single arm telescoping mirror apparatus comprising a mirror base and mirror head. In one embodiment, a mirror base having a wear plate secured to a single support arm which frictionally engages a single telescoping tube of the mirror head. Furthermore, a mirror base having a roller assembly which frictionally engage the inner wall of a single telescoping tube of the mirror head. Frictional forces created minimize the telescopic or vibrational movement of the mirror head during use of a vehicle. In another aspect, a wear plate is secured to a single telescoping tube while, roller assemblies are attached to a support arm which frictionally engage ridges of the telescoping tube.

Abstract

An imaging system includes an image sensor and an image signal processor (ISP). The image sensor generates image data including a set of pixel values. The ISP defines a first subset of pixel values from the set of pixel values. The first subset of pixel values corresponds to at least one region of interest. The ISP defines a second subset of pixel values that is complementary to the first subset of pixel values. The ISP generates a first sub-image based on the second subset of pixel values. The ISP processes the first subset of pixel values to generate a second sub-image. Processing the first subset of pixel values includes at least one of changing a color of one or more pixel values from the first subset of pixel values and scaling the first subset of pixel values. The ISP merges the first and second sub-images to generate an output image.

Abstract

A method displays information graphically on an image captured by a vehicular optical system. The method includes capturing the image and identifying an object in the image. The method the assigns a priority level to the object based on a predetermined criterion. The object is altered based on its priority level to create an altered object. An altered object may have a changed color, a colored halo surrounding it, or a colored object inside it. Other possible ways to alter the way the object looks are possible. The altered object is displayed in the image in place of the object on a mobile device to alert a person of its presence and the priority level associated therewith.

Abstract

A travel direction indicator module for an exterior rearview mirror arrangement for a motor vehicle has at least one light source. A first light conductor associated with the at least one light source includes a multiplicity of light decoupling points. The travel direction indicator further includes a second light conductor. The light source couples a first beam part into the first light conductor at a first end and a second beam part into the second light conductor at a first end. A module housing is formed as one injection molded part in common with the first light conductor and the second light conductor. The at least one light source emits light into a single light decoupling area, which is arranged in an area of the second end of the first light conductor situated opposite the first end of the first light conductor. An exterior rearview mirror arrangement having such a travel direction indicator module is also disclosed.

Abstract

A blind spot warning indication device for an exterior mirror of an automobile includes a light guide member. A plurality of wedge-shaped bosses are arranged side by side along an axis on the light guide member corresponding to a setting direction of the PCB. One side of each of the plurality of wedge-shaped bosses has a light incident end surface for aligning with a corresponding light source. An upper surface of each of the plurality of wedge-shaped bosses includes a light reflecting side having an optical pattern for reflecting and scattering. The reflecting side having the optical pattern is an upwardly convex arc surface. A lower surface of the wedge-shaped boss has a light emitting side. The outermost wedge-shaped boss has the largest curvature of the light-reflecting side compared to the other wedge-shaped bosses arranged side by side, and the outermost wedge-shaped boss has the longest length of the light-emitting side compared to the other wedge-shaped bosses arranged side by side. The device has the functions of reflection and scattering at the same time. The uniformity of the emitted light at the front surface and certain angles is better, and the warning effectiveness is improved. The LOGO pattern can be better combined with the emitted light.

Abstract

A method is shown to indicate to a driver of a vehicle the presence of an object moving relative to the vehicle. The method begins by collecting data using a camera or other such image capturing device. The data is analyzed to detect a hazard created by the presence of the object, regardless of whether it is moving or not. A warning associated with the hazard is created.
