The present invention relates broadly to commutation control of a BLDC motor for use with, for example, a power tool. The method uses a controller to control a BLDC motor in the event of a position sensor failure. Rather than ceasing operation of the motor and indicating a fault or error message to the user, the present invention determines when the next transition should occur based on the time between past hall transitions using a timer. Thus, if one or two position sensors are no longer providing position information to the controller, the controller can determine when the transitions would be changing based on past transitions to continue controlling the motor and prevents the motor from ceasing operation.

Methods and Systems for Automatic Condition Analysis of Vehicle Tires
Examples embodiments relate to techniques for automatic condition analysis of vehicle tires. A robotic device may initially obtain air pressure data corresponding to a vehicle tire from a first sensor and perform a first comparison between an air pressure level of the vehicle tire and a threshold air pressure level. Responsive to the air pressure level of the vehicle tire exceeding the threshold air pressure level, the robotic device may use a mechanical manipulator to rotate the vehicle tire and obtain sensor data representing an outer surface of the vehicle tire during rotation from a second sensor. The robotic device may then perform a second comparison between sensor data representing the outer surface of the vehicle tire and a model for the vehicle tire. The robotic device may then use the second comparison to generate a diagnostic output that represents a condition of the vehicle tire.

The present invention relates to wirelessly transferring energy to a cordless power tool to charge a power source, such as a rechargeable battery pack, coupled to the tool, and/or to provide power directly to the tool for operation of the tool. For example, a transmitter transmits a magnetic field, and a receiver receives energy via the magnetic field. When a tool and/or battery pack with the receiver is within the magnetic field, a sensing circuit connected to the receiver recognizes the magnetic field and signals a control circuit to capture energy, via the magnetic field. The energy received by the receiver can then be converted into an electrical current that can be used to supply power to the tool and/or battery pack.

A power tool, such as a cordless power ratchet, with a multi-speed gear train is described. A gearbox may use a planetary gearset with a shifting ring gear coupled with a set of compound gears that allows the user to change the output speed of the tool by altering the total gear ratio of the gearbox. A first stage may include a planetary gearset with a shifting ring gear. A second stage may include a set of compound gears whose output connects to the tool's driving mechanism. The exemplary gearbox may allow the user more control over the output during tool operation. A cordless ratchet with a multi-speed geartrain may allow the user to generate high levels of torque to remove a fastener (i.e., making the tool operate at a lower speed), and allow the user to remove the fastener quicker by increasing the speed of the tool.

Method and System for Displaying Routing Diagram with Highlighted Routable Components
A method includes transmitting a request for a computer-readable routing diagram, such as a wiring diagram, a pneumatic or hydraulic line diagram, or an optical cable diagram. The method also includes receiving, in response to the request, a routing diagram including a connectable component and at least a portion of a routing set. The connectable component is associated with both a connectable component identifier and the routing set. The routing set contains one or more routable components, such as electrical circuits, pneumatic or hydraulic lines, or optical cables. Further, the method includes displaying, on a display, the routing diagram and at least the portion of the routing set highlighted. Displaying at least the portion of the routing set highlighted occurs in response to an occurrence of the connectable component being selected from the routing diagram displayed on the display or in response to the request including the connectable component identifier.
