Abstract

A device for preventing fire propagation through a passageway in a structural partition through which a utility element extends from one side of the partition to the other and translates within the plane of structural partition. A firestop sheet of the device is larger than the passageway and is adapted to completely overlay and firestop the passageway. A penetrant aperture in the sheet enables a utility element to extend from one side of the firestop sheet to the other. Movable mounting means position the firestop sheet against the structural partition and overlaying the entire passageway. The movable mounting means also enables translation of the sheet relative to and in the plane of the structural partition but limits translation of the firestop sheet to positions wherein the sheet completely overlay the entire passageway.

Abstract

An apparatus for firestopping a cable tray having a cable load and extending through a partition. A housing of the apparatus is constructed to envelope a portion of the cable tray within the partition and defines an axial passageway between open front and back sides of the housing through which the cable tray and cable load extend. Firestop pads are arranged along the inside of the housing. An actuator is connected to a top firestop pad and is operable to move the top firestop pad between a first position disengaged from the cable load, which allows the cable load to be altered without interference from the top firestop pad, and a second position engaged with the cable load, which firestops the passageway surrounding the cable load.

Abstract

An apparatus for firestopping a cable tray having a cable load and extending through a partition. Abstract

An elongate gasket for enabling air and moisture ventilation and preventing fire propagation through a rainscreen cavity. In a first condition of the gasket before being exposed to high temperature, the gasket has a plurality of ventilation channels constructed and arranged to allow air flow and water flow through therethrough. In a second condition of the gasket after being exposed to high temperature, such as from a fire, the gasket material expands and seals the ventilation channels to create a solid firestop structure that prevents the flow of air and propagation of fire through the rainscreen cavity.

A mounting assembly for securing a cast-in-place sleeve assembly in axial alignment with a hole cut at any location on a corrugated deck panel prior to pouring the concrete floor so that a watertight and firestopped passageway is created in the concrete floor after the concrete has cured. The deck panel has a plurality of alternating lengthwise-extending ridges and valleys. The cast in-place sleeve assembly has a sleeve base, a sleeve tube, and a central passage configured for creating a formed passageway in the floor for utility elements. The assembly includes a mounting plate, means for fastening the mounting plate to the ridges on the deck panel, a tube assembly fixed to the mounting plate, snap tabs for connecting the cast-in-place sleeve assembly to the mounting plate in axial alignment with the tube assembly. Abstract

A firestopping apparatus including a housing defined by first and second housing members. Each housing member includes a width direction wall panel and a height direction wall panel. The width direction wall panel of the first housing member is configured to connect with the height direction wall panel of the second housing member and the width direction wall panel of the second housing member is configured to connect with the height direction wall panel of the first housing member to define an assembled housing with a through passage. Abstract

A firestop system for fire stopping a bus duct that passes through an opening in a marine deck or a marine bulkhead includes a boot seal wrapped around the bus duct housing. The boot seal has a top end attached to the bus duct, and a bottom end attached to the division. The boot seal is made of flexible material to allow for movement of the bus duct relative to the division due to vibration. The boot seal may be made of a thermal barrier wrap or other high-temperature insulating mat materials to allow heat generated under normal condition to escape while providing firestopping and temperature resistance under fire exposure conditions. Abstract

A firestopping insulation construction adapted to be positioned adjacent to a head-of-wall area beneath a ceiling construction having fluted ceiling runner channels which have a trapezoidal cross-sectional profile facing downwardly. Abstract

A sealing gasket for use attached preferably to the topmost edge of gypsum board when used as construction wallboard. The gasket includes a support leg section capable of being mounted in engagement with preferably the uppermost edge of the gypsum board. The gasket includes a sealing leg extending outwardly from said leg section which includes an intumescent component to facilitate sealing between the edge of the gypsum board and the wall structure above. In one embodiment the sealing leg includes an intumescent impregnated paper material covered with a structurally enhancing layer. An adhesive layer can be included to attach the gasket to the gypsum wallboard. A blanket or curtain of flexible fire retardant material is collapsed and retained within a retaining housing construction positioned adjacent to a curtain wall assembly for firestop sealing thereover. The housing includes a safing angle member secured to the curtain wall assembly and a cover which releases responsive to sensing fire conditions to allow the firestopping blanket to deploy downwardly to extend between curtain wall framing members and be positioned extending across a curtain wall panel for fire protection thereover. Abstract

A relatively inexpensive bushing easily installed extending through walls, particularly, gypsum board membrane walls for providing firestopping around a limited number of linear penetrating members such as cables or wires. This grommet construction includes first and second half sections for facilitating attachment around cables more easily. Abstract

A sealing gasket for use attached to the topmost edge of gypsum board used as construction wallboard. The gasket includes a support leg section capable of being mounted in engagement with the uppermost edge of the gypsum board. The gasket includes a sealing leg extending outwardly from said leg section which includes an intumescent component to facilitate sealing between the edge of the gypsum board and the wall structure above. Abstract

A firestopping apparatus for providing a fire barrier in a construction barrier. The apparatus is comprised of a sleeve within which there are located intumescent pads that are oriented to form a confinement area therebetween to accommodate various penetrating members such as cables, conduits and the like that need to pass through the barrier. Upon sensing the heat from a fire, the intumescent pads seal around the penetrating members to prevent the fire from passing through the barrier. One or both of the intumescent pads is movable toward or away from the other so that the confinement area can be adjusted in size, that is, the confinement area can be increased in size to accommodate a large number of penetrating members of decreased to accommodate a lesser number.
