Abstract
The invention discloses an improved vertical tube falling film heat exchanger wherein the improvement comprises of a simple but novel tube extension (3) of a substantially inverted funnel shaped configuration at the upper ends of the vertical tubes (2), whereby the said extension (3) permits the use of honeycomb calandria in the vertical tube falling film heat exchangers by ensuring uniform liquid distribution in the vertical tubes (2) and completely eliminates the need of a separate distribution means interposed between superimposed banks of vertical tubes.

Abstract
A heat exchanger assembly (101) is disclosed. The heat exchanger assembly (101) includes a heat exchanger (105) comprising of a bank of vertical parallel heat exchange tubes (106) of short height open at both ends. The tubes (106) are enclosed in a casing which has inlets for steam or other condensing medium. The heat exchanger (105) is arranged around the periphery of a chimney (103) of a natural draft tower (102) in a substantially circular plan. Means (110-112) are provided to spray the evaporative liquid from a particular height over the heat exchanger (105) co-current to the natural air draft. The heat exchanger assembly (101) operates as an improved evaporative condenser.

Abstract
The present application describes a novel jet nozzle, which performs the dual function of ejection and condensation, resulting in overall efficiency. This has been achieved by two unique factors. Firstly, positioning of the guide vanes at the entry point of the nozzle, instead of the high velocity zones inside the nozzle e.g. mouth region. Secondly, by imparting of a slight angle of 3-4 degree to the guide vanes, which results in imparting of a whirl to the water column, thus giving it the dual advantage of spray effect without loss of impact.

Abstract
The present invention consists of an improved vertical continuous vacuum pan apparatus consisting of eight chambers (2) (instead of four or five) and a storage or buffer tank (27) at the top, within the existing conventional height, characterized in that each chamber has a bottom mounted mechanical circulator housed in an insulated pocket (28) in the vapour space segment (29) of each chamber and not in additional space above the chamber.

Abstract
The present invention describes a novel mechanical circulator assembly (2) which is of compact construction and energy efficient. In the present invention, the circulator shaft (13) length has been reduced considerably to only 0.50 - 0.56m as compared to conventional shaft length of 5.0 - 8.0m (in case of top-mounted mechanical circulators) and 1.7 - 2.5 m (in case of bottom-mounted mechanical circulators). This has been achieved by two factors - positioning of the sealing means & bearing assembly in a special sealing and bearing housing (4) disposed entirely within the vacuum pan; and use of compact & light weight gearbox (15) of inline planetary type having a hollow spline output and hollow input with key arrangement for direct inline flange mounting of the drive (16).
