Abstract

A lighting device that includes a body having a front end and a rear end opposing the front end, a light source, and a switch assembly that extends through the rear end of the body. The switch assembly includes a switch button, a sealing boot, and a wave spring. The wave spring is compressed between the switch button and the sealing boot such that the sealing boot covers an end opening of a subframe. The switch button has an actuator extending through the wave spring. The switch assembly is depressible such that the actuator engages the sealing boot and applies pressure to a switch member disposed within the subframe. When the switch member is actuated, a signal is sent to the light source.

Abstract

A battery assembly (100) for a portable device has a first longitudinal axis and comprises: a battery assembly housing (110) configured to receive at least one unit of a first battery type (Bl) having a second longitudinal axis, wherein an angle Al defined by the first and second longitudinal axes is greater than 0 degrees and less than 180 degrees. The battery assembly housing (110) may be further configured to receive at least one unit of a second battery type (B2). The battery assembly (100) for a portable device may comprise: a housing (110) having a first receptacle (120) for receiving a first battery (Bl) and having plural second receptacles (130) transverse to the first receptacle (120) for receiving plural batteries (B2) of a different smaller size. Battery assembly terminals (104, 106) provide externally accessible battery positive and negative terminals. Thus the example battery assembly (100) can receive the first and second batteries (Bl, B2), but not at the same time.

Abstract

A driver circuit (10,100) may comprise: a power control (40) converts input power to an output voltage; a high frequency switch (42) provides short duration pulses of output voltage causing a pulsed load current to flow through a load; a current sensor (44) generates a signal representative of the pulsed load current; a sample and hold circuit (46) samples the signal representative of the pulsed load current in synchronism with the high frequency switch and holds the sampled signal value; and a controller (20) responds to the sampled signal value and applies control signals to the power control to produce the desired output voltage and to the high frequency switch and the sample and hold circuit to control the pulsed load current to a predetermined value. A corresponding method (200) and an efficiency improver are disclosed. The load may include: a semiconductor laser diode or a light emitting diode.

Abstract

A portable light may comprise: a light body; a light source, an electrical switch for selectively energizing the light source, the light body having an opening through which the electrical switch can be actuated. A pivot pin pivotably mounts an actuator having an actuation feature that extends towards the opening for actuating the electrical switch when pivoted towards the light body. The light body has a receptacle in which the pivot pin is removably disposed. A retainer of a resilient material resiliently retains the pivot pin in the receptacle and resiliently deforms for removal of the pivot pin therefrom; whereby the actuator is removable and replaceable on the light body by removing the pivot pin. The light body may have a seal of resilient material in the opening of the light body. A user formable actuator of a curable material may be provided.

Abstract

A portable light (100-100') may comprise: light body (200); light source (280), electrical switch (252) for selectively energizing the light source, the light body having an opening through which the electrical switch can be actuated. A pivot pin (314) pivotably mounts an actuator (350) having an actuation feature that extends towards the opening for actuating the electrical switch when pivoted towards the light body. The light body has a receptacle (314) in which the pivot pin is removably disposed. A retainer (314) of resilient material resiliently retains the pivot pin in the receptacle and resiliently deforms for removal of the pivot pin therefrom; whereby the actuator (350) is removable and replaceable on the light body by removing the pivot pin. The light body (200) may have a seal of resilient material in the opening of the light body. The actuator may include a curable user formable material.

Abstract

Portable light (100, 300, 400) may comprise: a light body (120, 320, 420) having an internal cavity configured to receive a rechargeable power source (200), having a keying feature (136, 336, 436) and an opening through an exterior wall in a predetermined location relative to the keying feature; and a light source (132, 332, 432). A rechargeable power source (200) has a charging connector (250) and a keying feature (230) in predetermined locations. When the keying feature (230) engages the keying feature of the internal cavity, the charging connector (250) is aligned with the opening through the exterior wall of the light body (120, 320, 420). An external source of charging power can be connected through the opening in the exterior wall directly to the charging connector of the rechargeable power source for recharging the rechargeable power source (200) while it is in the portable light (100, 300, 400).

Abstract

A mountable light includes a light body and a mounting arrangement including first and second clamping members from a set of pairs of clamping members. The light body has first and second opposing receptacles in which the respective clamping members are respectively removably disposed to move toward and away from each other. One clamping member may be fastened in its receptacle so as to be a fixed clamping member while the other clamping member is movable. A clamping mechanism may move the clamping members closer together to engage a mounting rail or away from each other to release the rail. An interchangeable key member may be provided between the clamping members, and may be selected from a set of interchangeable key members.
