Provided is a connector for an animal, the connector having a stopper mechanism for enabling or disabling a slide bar to be pushed back. A connector (SHL1-SHL7) for an animal is provided with: a hook section; a shaft section (SL) which extends in a first direction (Ds) from an end of the hook section; a slide bar (Sb) which reciprocates in the first direction to open and close the hook section; a lock member (L1-L7) which is mounted around the shaft section so as to be capable of pivoting about the first direction; and an operation section (Kn) which is connected to the slide bar and which protrudes in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The lock member includes: a cylindrical section (CL1-CL6) which has formed therein a circular cylindrical space for housing the shaft section so that the shaft section is capable of pivoting; and a protrusion (Pr1, Pr4, Pr5, Pr6, Pr7) which extends by a predetermined length toward the hook section from a part of the hook section-side end of the cylindrical section. The protrusion faces or does not face at least a part of the operation section when the lock member pivots.

Abstract

The object is to provide a low-cost connector for an animal leash by which unwanted disconnection can be prevented while requiring no or only one additional part that can be easily attached. A locking member (12) provided with a disconnecting part (11) is attached to the outer periphery of a base part (2) in such a manner that said locking member (12) can be attached so as to cover at least one half of the outer periphery of the base part (2) and detached therefrom in association with the elastic broadening of the disconnecting part (11) and the following restoration of the same. In the attached state, the locking member (12) props in the axial direction between a hooking part (13) on the connection end side of the base part (2) and an operating part (7) to thereby prevent a backward movement of the operating part and lock an engaging pin (i.e., closed state). In the locking member (12), an abutting part (15) on the side of the lock end, said abutting part (15) serving as a propping part, is provided with at least one of a notch (15a), which hooks, in the horizontal direction, a connecting part (7a) rising up from the engaging pin (8) of the operating part (7), and an inward projection (17), which enters in a slide groove (16), said slide groove (16) allowing the rising connecting part (7a) to slide in the backward operation direction along the peripheral wall of the base part (2), and hooks the same in the horizontal direction, thereby achieving the aforesaid object.
