Abstract

The method for producing a magnesium alloy comprises the following steps: transforming the aluminium-free magnesium into a melt phase; adding and mixing the manganese dichloride into the liquid phase; adding and mixing the rare earth metals as mixed metals in powdered and/or granulate form, these metals containing cerium and lanthanum in a ratio from 1:1 to 4:1, the proportion of neodymium being under 1 wt.% and the remainder being substantially magnesium. A magnesium alloy produced according to the method comprises aluminium-free magnesium with at least 80 wt.% as magnesium, manganese with 1.0 to 10 wt.% and rare earth metals with 1.0 to 10 wt% on condition that the rare earth metals contain cerium and lanthanum as mixed metals in a ratio from 1:1 to 4:1, the proportion of neodymium be under 1 wt.% and the remainder be substantially magnesium.

Abstract

The invention relates to an installation for producing cast components and semi-finished products made of light metal or light metal alloys, preferably magnesium alloys. According to the invention, the installation consists of a melting furnace or a melting crucible comprising a submerged nozzle or nozzle via which the liquid melt flows into a permanent mould or casting mould, and at least one vertically movable permanent mould (3) or casting mould, a transport device (2) and a vertically movable device for cooling (4) the permanent mould (3) or casting mould during the filling process with the liquid melt.

Abstract

Installation for producing extruded components and semi-finished products The invention relates to an installation for producing extruded components and semi-finished products made of light metal or light metal alloys, preferably from a magnesium alloy, which installation comprises a device for producing blooms, billets or slugs, and at least one installation for processing these components or semi-finished products that are to be produced. According to the invention, the installation consists of an interlinked structure of a device (1) for producing extrusion billets, a device (2) for storing the extrusion billets in which the extrusion billets are maintained at a temperature between 250°C and 580°C, and at least one extrusion press device (3), the devices (1, 2, 3) being interconnected by means of transfer devices.
