Abstract

A hair styling aid for curling hair is described, including a housing, guide means comprising a slot in a wall of the housing for receiving a length of hair to be styled, a rotatable element rotatable clockwise or anticlockwise relative to the housing and the guide means, to form curls, and a heated elongate member around which the length of hair is wound by the rotatable element, in use. The housing surrounds a part of the elongate member to form a chamber between the housing wall(s) and the elongate member, the housing extending from and being integral with a handle. The rotatable element is rotatable relative to or with the elongate member, having a predefined starting position to which it is automatically returned after use. The housing has a longitudinal axis and the slot is parallel with the longitudinal axis of the housing.

Abstract

This invention relates to a hair styling device, and in particular to an automated hair styling device. The hair styling device (10) has a body (12) with a chamber (16) adapted to accommodate a length of hair, the chamber having an opening (22) through which the length of hair may pass into the chamber. A rotatable element (30) which is driven to rotate by a motor is adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the opening, to pull the hair through the opening and to wind the hair around an elongate member (20) in the chamber. A sleeve (50) is permanently mounted to the body and is movable between an extended position in which it surrounds the elongate member (20) in the chamber (16) and a retracted position in which it does not surround the elongate member in the chamber.

Abstract

This invention relates to a hair styling device having a body defining a chamber adapted to accommodate a length of hair, the length of hair being styled while it is located within the chamber. The chamber has a primary opening through which the length of hair may pass into the chamber. An elongate member is located within the chamber. A rotatable element is provided which is adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the primary opening and to apply a force to the length of hair to wind the length of hair around the elongate member. The rotation of the rotatable element is controlled by a control system which includes means to detect the force applied to the length of hair. In the event of hair entanglement the force applied to the length of hair increases and if the force detected by the control system exceeds a predetermined threshold the rotation of the rotatable element is stopped and can be reversed so as to relieve the tension and allow the length of hair to be removed from the device.

Abstract

This invention relates to a hair styling device. The invention provides a hair styling device (10; 210; 310) having a body (12; 1 12; 312; 412) with a chamber (16; 1 16; 216; 316) adapted to accommodate a length of hair (24). The chamber has an opening (22; 322) through which the length of hair may pass into the chamber. A rotatable element (32) is adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the opening. A pressing means (28, 30; 330; 430) drives the length of hair towards the opening. The device has a capture region (364; 464) which is spaced from the opening (22; 322) and which retains misplaced hair. Holding means (330; 406) holds the misplaced hair within the capture region where it is detected by a detector (382; 482).

Abstract

This invention relates to an improved hair styling device, and provides a hair styling device for imparting a wave to a tress of hair. The device comprises a tube (110) having a longitudinal axis, the tube being open at at least one of its longitudinal ends whereby the tress of hair can be introduced into the tube. The tube is longitudinally extendable between a non-extended condition and an extended condition. The inside of the tube has at least one barrier (120) which can engage the tress of hair as the tube moves towards its non-extended condition, the barrier controlling the deformation of the tress of hair and thereby controlling the form of the wave produced in the tress of hair.

Abstract

This invention relates to a hair styling device (10) having a body (12) defining a chamber (16) adapted to accommodate a length of hair (26), the length of hair being styled whilst it is located within the chamber. The chamber has a primary opening (24) through which the length of hair may pass into the chamber. A rotatable element (34) is provided which is adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the primary opening. An elongate member (20) is located within the chamber (16), the length of hair being wound around the elongate member by the rotatable element. The device has a handle (14) which may be gripped by a user, the handle comprising a first handle part (62) and a second handle part (60), the first handle part (62) being connected to the body (12) and the second handle part (60) being movable relative to the first handle part (62). The second handle part can carry a panel (56) which is adapted to close the primary opening (24).

A rotatable element is provided which is adapted to engage the length of hair adjacent to the primary opening. An elongate member is located within the chamber, the length of hair being wound around the elongate member by the rotatable element, the elongate member having a free end. The chamber has a secondary opening through which the length of hair may pass out of the chamber, the secondary opening being located adjacent to the free end of the elongate member. A movable abutment is provided which can engage the length of hair in use, the movable abutment having an open position in which the length of hair can pass through the secondary opening, and a closed position in which the length of hair is retained within the chamber.

Abstract

The invention relates to a hair styling aid (1), in particular for curling hair. The hair styling aid (1) comprises guide means (16) for receiving a length of hair to be styled, and a rotatable element (20). In use, the rotatable element (20) rotates relative to the guide means (16), pushing a portion of the hair to one side and thereby causing it to be wound around a central protrusion (36).
