The engine oil additive contains multiple 300 to 500 nm-long polygonal plate-shaped silver crystal particles. The engine oil contains a base oil and the engine oil additive. The method of adding the additive to an engine oil includes adding multiple 300 to 500-nm-long polygonal plate-shaped silver crystal particles as an additive to the engine oil.

Abstract

Disclosed are: an additive for an engine oil, which has an excellent effect of improving the lubricating performance of an engine oil; an engine oil having the additive added thereto; and a method for adding an additive that can improve the lubricating performance of an engine oil. Specifically disclosed are: an additive for an engine oil, which comprises multiple polyangular-plate-like silver crystal particles having an average length of 300 to 500 nm; an engine oil comprising a base oil and the additive; and a method for adding an additive to an engine oil, which is characterized by adding, as the additive, multiple polyangular-plate-like silver crystal particles each having a length of 300 to 500 nm to the engine oil.
