A cosmetic compact (1) comprises a container (9) to hold liquid cosmetics, and a stopper (5) for to the compact (1). The stopper comprises a protrusion (7) that cooperates with a dispensing orifice (8) of the container. The stopper is connected by a hinge (6) to a lid (2) or base (3) of the compact, preferably to the lid. The stopper may thus serve as a latch for the lid of the compact. The hinged connection (6) may be a web integrally formed with the stopper and the adjacent part of the compact, or it may comprise a pin or protrusion.

Abstract

A cosmetic case comprises a lid (10) and a base comprising a tray (12) and a base outer (shell 15). The lid (10) is connected to the base by a hinge. The hinge comprises a torsion biasing assembly (1) having relatively rotatable parts (2, 3) which interfit to retain a torsion element (4), so that relative rotation of the parts changes the strain in the torsion element. The tray (12) is connected to the lid (10) by the hinge and the base outer shell (15) is fitted to the cosmetic case by being attached to the tray (12). The base outer shell (15) preferably comprises a stop to prevent the lid or base from dis-engaging from the torsion biasing assembly.

A cosmetic compact comprising a lid (2) hingedly connected to a base (3), a dispensing orifice (20) and a cosmetic dispenser (10) for dispensing liquid cosmetics disposed in a recess in the base. The cosmetic dispenser (10) comprises a pump mechanism (14) and an actuator (12). The pump mechanism (14) being operatively connected to the actuator (12) so as to actuate the dispenser (10). The actuator (12) being attachable to a plunger (35) of the pump mechanism (14) and comprising an actuating linkage (23) having a portion offset to the plunger axis such that when pressure is applied to the actuating linkage (23) in a direction transverse to the plunger axis the plunger (35) moves axially. The compact further comprises an inner lid (11) hingedly connected to the base (3), the inner lid (11) comprising a button (7) in cooperation with the actuator (12) such that when pressure is applied to the button (7) the plunger (35) moves axially to expel liquid from the dispensing orifice (20).
