The at least one processing circuit adjusts at least one confidence value based at least on the situation analysis. The at least one confidence value determines a relative impact of the vehicle sensor data and the map data in performing the fusion. The at least one processing circuit causes at least one function to be performed that is determined based on the fusion.

When the user has passed through the decision point, it is determined whether the current position of the user lies on the outgoing segment forming the continuation of the main route. If so, the main route continues to be used as the main route after passing through the decision point. If not, it is determined whether the current position is on an outgoing segment associated with one of the stored alternative routes. If so, then this alternative route is used as the new main route after the decision point. If not, a new alternative route from the decision point to the destination passing along the outgoing segment on which the current position is found is generated, and used as the new main route after passing the decision point.

Abstract

A method and system for generating a route through a navigable network in a geographic area is disclosed, the navigable network being represented by an electronic map comprising a plurality of segments each having a traversal direction associated therewith. An area is defined around a location represented by the electronic map, and at least some of the outgoing segments from the area are determined. A first optimum cost route from an origin is determined to each of the determined outgoing segments, and these routes are ranked according to their cost. At least one of the first optimum cost routes is selected based on the ranking, and a second optimum cost route is determined from the outgoing segment from the area of the selected route to a destination. The generated route from the origin to the destination comprises the selected first optimum cost route and the second optimum cost route.

Abstract

A method for estimating the occupancy of a parking lot is provided wherein map data, indicating the geometry of a parking lot, is obtained. A number of parking regions within said parking lot is then determined using said map data. A model of the spatial distribution of occupied parking regions is then generated as a function of the total number of occupied parking regions within the lot. The method further comprises receiving probe data from a plurality of portable devices within said parking lot, wherein said probe data indicates the position of each device. The probe data is analyzed in accordance with said model and an estimate of the occupancy of the parking lot is output.

Abstract

A method is disclosed involving receiving GPS data from persona portable training devices of users when traversing an off-road segment of an electronic map together with associated data indicative of a heart rate of a user during the movements. The position and heart rate data for each user traversing the segment are processed using data indicative of a fitness profile for the user. The resulting data is used to determine a normalized cost to be associated with the segment, indicative of the difficulty in traversing the segment. The cost data is generated using a neural network. The resulting cost data for different segments in a network of segments is used to generate route suggestions for users based upon desired workout intensity, fitness levels, etc.
