MARCHING TENOR DRUM ASSEMBLY HAVING UNITARY MULTIPLE-DRUM MOUNTING FRAME
A marching tenor drum assembly includes a quad mounting frame and two individual mounting frames for receiving a plurality of tenor drums. A mounting lip of each drum shell rests on the top plate of one of the mounting frames, a compression rim of a bearing ring covers the mounting lip and is fastened to the mounting frame with a plurality of clamp screws. The drum skin of a top head is placed over the top edge of an upwardly extending support wall of the bearing ring. A top hoop is placed over a peripheral portion of the top head and is fastened to the clamp screws.
Disclosed is a tuning guide for tuning a brass musical instrument having a tuning slide. The tuning guide includes (1) visual markings provided along one arm of the tuning slide indicating a plurality of tuning positions of the tuning slide and (2) a tuning log for logging a tuning history specific to both the instrument and a particular player of the instrument. The tuning log includes a plurality of tuning records, each tuning record including (i) one or more conditions fields, each conditions field for recording an environmental condition and (ii) a tuning position field for specifying a tuning position at which the instrument is properly tuned under the environmental conditions recorded in the one or more conditions fields.

A snare drum having an improved throw off includes a strainer shaft and a strainer bar both extending through the interior of the drum shell. The strainer bar is linked to the strainer shaft, a snare assembly is connected to the strainer bar, and a handle rotates the strainer shaft which moves the strainer bar and snare assembly between an upper position in which the snares of the snare assembly are engaged with the bottom head of the drum, and lower position in which the snares are disengaged from the bottom head. The snares are in parallel relation to the bottom head of the drum throughout the range of movement between the upper and lower positions. In one embodiment, the drum comprises a wood laminate and the top and bottom shell caps comprise carbon fiber.
