A device usable as an impeller has a plurality of vanes rotating eccentrically about a shaft. Eccentric rotation is enabled by a cam mounted on the shaft. The vanes are received within slots in a rotor which surrounds the shaft and rotates about an axis coaxial with the shaft. The rotor rotates within a housing having a cylindrical surface facing the rotor. The surface is eccentric to the shaft. The vanes execute reciprocal motion upon rotation of the rotor. The vane motion is constrained so that the edges of the vanes remain proximate to the cylindrical surface during rotation.

ROTARY COMPRESSOR HAVING A DISCHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY
A rotary compressor having a housing and a rotor positioned within an internal cavity of the housing is provided that is configured to rotate about a rotor axis of rotation eccentric to a housing longitudinal axis. A vane is also provided that is slidably mounted with the rotor and movable axially about and between a first position, in which a distal end of the vane is positioned at a first distance from the peripheral surface of the rotor, and a second position, in which the distal end of the vane is positioned at a second distance from the peripheral surface of the rotor. The distal end of the vane is constrained to be spaced proximate from the inner wall surface of the housing as the rotor rotates about the rotor axis of rotation.
Implementations described herein comprise fluid rotary injection valve systems and apparatus configured to selectively allow a working fluid to pass from one chamber into another where the fluid flow occurs at predetermined times and flow rates. Such fluid rotary injection valve systems can be useful in connection with rotational equipment and particularly for high speed rotational equipment operating with differential internal and external process pressures.
A rotary fluid-displacement assembly and method comprise a housing having a longitudinal axis and a non-uniformly shaped inner wall surface, a rotor positioned within the internal cavity formed by the housing, a fixed cam having at least one cam profile slot, and at least one vane having a guide pin adapted to be inserted into and ride within the at least one cam profile slot.. The rotor can be configured to rotate about a rotor axis of rotation that is eccentric to the housing longitudinal axis. Each vane can be operatively associated with at least cam profile slot and can be configured to move radially from a first position, where the distal end of the vane lies a first distance from the peripheral surface of the rotor, to a second position, where the distal end of the vane lies a second distance from the peripheral surface of the rotor.

Implementations of the present invention comprise a rotor assembly for use in a rotary compressor. The rotor assembly includes a shaft, a pair of end plates, an input shaft, and a rotor. The rotor can be positioned between the pair of endplates. At least two of these components can be machined or formed as an integral unit, to increase the geometrical precision and integrity of the rotor assembly. For example, the rotor and input shaft can be formed integrally; alternatively, one of the endplates and the input shaft can be formed integrally. A pair of liners can be provided and positioned between the endplates and the rotor to increase sliding and/or sealing performance against other components of the rotary compressor, such as a gate positioned in a bore of the rotor.

A sealing assembly for use in a rotary compressor having a housing and a rotor. The sealing assembly includes a sealing element and a spring positioned circumferentially around the sealing element. The sealing assembly is positioned in a slot formed in the housing, with at least one surface of the sealing element being beveled, and a cooperating mating surface of the slot being beveled. The force of the spring against the sealing element causes the sealing element to be forced into contact with at least one surface of the rotor (such as an inner surface of a rotor end plate). Alternatively, a sealing element can be provided that has elastic properties, the forces of which cause the sealing element to be forced into contact with the rotor.
