The retention device further includes a bendable belt segment that may be placed about an insulation element as part of an outer covering or like a type of outer covering.
The invention relates to an apparatus for producing an arrangement which contains a component (2) with an insulation (4), wherein the insulation (4) has a foil (8), in particular made of stainless steel, and, in at least one region, crosspieces (14, 16) which can be connected to one another along mutually associated edges to form a folded-seam joint. The apparatus contains a basic body (30) with a surface (40), also contains a recess (36), which is adapted to part of the outer contour of the component (2) or of the insulation (4) and into which the component (2), with the insulation (4) enclosing the same, can be introduced, and further comprises a ram (32) arranged in a movable manner. It is an object of the invention to propose an apparatus, and a method which can be implemented thereby, to simplify the production outlay and to minimize, in particular, the outlay required for transporting the component and insulation. In order to achieve this object, it is proposed that the ram (32) should be mounted in the basic body (30) such that it can be moved vertically upwards from a basic position and should have the recess (36) and the surface (38), which is designed in the form of a bearing surface for the crosspieces (14, 16), and that at least one integrated slide (42), which can be moved in relation to the basic body (30), should be provided and assigned to the crosspieces (14, 16) such that the folded-seam joint of the insulation (4) can be produced by virtue of the slide or slides (42) being moved in the direction of the insulation (4) and also by virtue of the ram (32) being moved in the upward direction (34) out of the basic position.

The invention relates to an insulating device containing a first machine element (6), in particular an exhaust gas pipe, and at least one second machine element (8), in particular an exhaust manifold, that is connected to said first machine element and through which, in particular, a hot medium can flow and being connected to a unit (2). The insulating device at least partially surrounds the machine element (6) and is connected to the unit (2). The aim of the invention is to further develop the claimed insulating device with a low amount of production and material expenditure such that mounting and demounting can be carried out in a simple manner and can be adapted in a problem-free manner to various types of units. According to the invention, a base plate (10) that is connected to the unit (2) is provided, said base plate having at least two side parts (18) that are arranged at a distance from each other forming an intermediate area (28), such that a sliding part (20) is arranged in the intermediate area (28) and is essentially sealingly connected the base plate (10) and to the lateral parts (18) by means of profiles (30, 32) and is detachably connected in relation to the base plate (10), such that said sliding part (20) contains a recess (36) through which the second machine element (8) is guided, and also a cover (14) that can be connected to the base plate (10) by means of a detachable securing element (16), said cover engaging with the first machine element (6).
