Abstract

A shaft locking system is provided that includes a shaft, a wrap spring wrapped about the shaft, and an optional actuator configured to deflect the wrap spring. The actuator may be connected to a handle or joystick. An exemplary system may be configured as a joystick control system for a snowthrower discharge chute deflector. When the wrap spring is in a neutral position, it provides a high friction force to restrict relative rotation between the shaft and the wrap spring in one rotational direction and allow rotation in the opposite rotational direction. The actuator can act upon the wrap spring to reduce the friction force, allowing relative rotation between the shaft and the wrap spring in both directions.

Abstract

A boundary of a work region is defined in which an autonomous machine is to operate. A dead zone is defined in the work region wherein a loss of a wireless geolocation service is known or predicted. A traversal pattern within the boundary is autogenerated. The autonomous machine executes the traversal pattern to perform work using the wireless geolocation service to navigate outside of the dead zone. When encountering the dead zone before, during, or after executing the traversal pattern, the machine prioritizes a localization input that does not rely on the wireless geolocation service to perform the work in the dead zone.

Abstract

An autonomous work vehicle includes a user interface that is accessible by an operator to manually control the vehicle. A controller of the vehicle is operable to access a planned path and cause a traction unit of the vehicle to move along the planned path during autonomous work. The controller detects an unplanned event during the autonomous work that prevents the autonomous work vehicle from autonomously traversing a section of the planned path. In response to the operator taking manual control over the traction unit to traverse the section of the planned path, the controller provides a directional indicator via the user interface during the manual control that indicates a direction of the planned path relative to a current position of the work vehicle.

Abstract

An autonomous work vehicle is scheduled to perform work at the work site according to an initial work plan. The initial work plan estimates a scheduled end time for the work. Due to various inputs, such as a signal from a worker, an environmental condition, or the like, a completion time is determined that is different than the scheduled end time. During or after the autonomous work vehicle works the work site, a signal is sent to the autonomous work vehicle to complete work at an adjusted end time different than the scheduled end time based on the manual completion time. The initial work is plan adjusted such that the autonomous work vehicle finishes the work by the adjusted end time.

Abstract

An aerator for a turf surface has a traction control, an OPC bail, and an aeration bail capable of single handed operation. A controller automatically lowers a tine head to begin aerating at a start location marked when the aeration bail is closed and lifts the tine head to end aeration at an end location marked when the aeration bail is released. The controller further causes the tines that enter the turf surface at the start location to penetrate to a desired hole depth. The controller also automatically adjusts ground speed to maintain a desired hole spacing during an aeration pass, but permits the operator to speed up during a turnaround between passes with a steerable front wheel freewheeling to mitigate wheel scrubbing. A handle assembly having a spring counterbalance is height adjustable and automatically engages a parking brake when placed in an upright non-operating position.

Abstract

A path definition defines a vehicle work path through a work region. During a staging of an autonomous machine at an arbitrary location within the work region, a starting pose of the autonomous machine is determined. A target navigation start region is determined within the work region based on the starting pose. The target navigation start region represents an allowable region within which to start work. One or more start points on the work path are selected within the target navigation start region. The selected start point provides an estimate of an intent of the operator during the staging. The selected start point is used for performing autonomous work with the autonomous machine along on the vehicle work path.
