Abstract

A marker composition for application to a medical device or a surface is disclosed. The marker composition comprises a carrier composition including water, nonionic surfactant, organic solvent, and a neutral or anionic viscosity modifier. The marker composition further comprises a dyestuff. In some embodiments, the quantity of dyestuff present is such that at least some of the dyestuff is present as a dispersed solid phase. The dyestuff may be a naturally-derived dyestuff, such as spirulina extract (including phycocyanin). The invention extends to a carrier composition for a dyestuff.

Abstract

A method of decontaminating a medical device using a disinfecting agent and a kit of parts for performing the method are disclosed. The method comprises applying an indicator composition to a surface of the medical device, the indicator composition comprising a dyestuff and having a first colour when applied to the surface and exhibiting a colour change upon exposure to the disinfecting agent, performing a first inspection of the surface to verify that the first colour is present on the surface and making a first log entry in accordance with the outcome of the first inspection. The method further includes applying the disinfecting agent to the surface, performing a second inspection of the surface to verify that the colour change has occurred, making a second log entry in accordance with the outcome of the second inspection, and associating the first log entry and the second log entry with the decontaminated medical device.

A seal member can be applied to the end face of the capsule body to close the first and second chambers. Abstract

Abstract

A pump apparatus (1) comprises a pump head (2) and a container (20) for a liquid to be dispensed. The pump head (2) has a flexible dispensing tube (4) in fluid connection with the inside of the container (20). The fluid connection between the dispensing tube (4) and the inside of the container (20) is provided by a supply tube (28) which co-operates with the dispensing tube (4) to provide a non-return valve function. An end (48) of the supply tube (28) is disposed within an end of the dispensing tube (4) and the non-return valve function is provided by a hole (46) through a side wall of the supply tube (28) in a region where the dispensing tube (4) overlaps the supply tube, whereby the dispensing tube (4) provides a seal over the hole (46) to prevent ingress of fluid when the internal pressure is lower than the external pressure. Another aspect of the invention provides a container (20) for use in the pump apparatus.
