Abstract

A method for introducing electric conductors into an overmolding of a steering wheel frame is provided. The electric conductors are used for heating and shielding purposes and for sensing contact on a steering wheel. In a first step, at least one cut is introduced into the overmolding using a cutting tool. In a second step, both a first layer of an electric conductor and a second layer of an electric conductor are simultaneously introduced into the cut that has been created. The first layer forms both a heating layer for heating the steering wheel and a guard layer which, together with the second layer acting as a sensor layer, allows the capacitive sensing of hand contact.

Abstract

A coupling device for mounting an airbag module on a steering wheel structure of a vehicle steering wheel includes a mounting member including a sleeve having a central opening and being connected to the airbag module. A damping element constructed of a vibration damping material is positioned in the sleeve and connected to the sleeve. A spring encircles an outer surface of the mounting member. A fastening structure extends through the mounting member, damping element, and spring. The fastening structure connects the coupling device to the steering wheel structure. The mounting member is configured to receive a horn switch plate for sliding movement along the outer surface of the mounting member. The spring exerts a spring bias against the horn switch plate and the mounting member in opposite directions, which biases the horn switch plate away from the steering wheel structure.

Abstract

The invention relates to a steering device assembly (10) for a vehicle and method for avoiding incorrect inputs on a vehicle horn, comprising the following steps: a sensitive input device (12) detects a contact with which an action is requested. As a result of the contact, the sensitive input device (12) sends a switching signal to a control device (14). At least one additional item of information, which is of significance in the context of the execution of the requested action, is supplied to the control device (14). The control device (14) then performs a plausibility test taking into consideration the switching signal and the at least one additional item of information. The requested action is finally either performed or inhibited, depending on the outcome of the plausibility test.

Abstract

Disclosed is a method for introducing electric conductors (22) into an overmoulding (20) of a steering wheel frame (18). The electric conductors (22) are used in particular for heating and shielding purposes and for sensing contact on a steering wheel. Said method comprises the following steps: in a first method step, introducing at least one cut (26) into the overmoulding (20) using a cutting tool (34); and, in a second method step, simultaneously introducing both a first layer (22a) of an electric conductor (22) and a second layer (22b) of an electric conductor (22) into the cut (26) that has been created. The first layer (22a) preferably forms both a heating layer for heating the steering wheel and a guard layer which, together with the second layer (22b) acting as a sensor layer, allows the capacitive sensing of hand contact.

Abstract

A method for folding an airbag includes folding the airbag into an elongate state at least partially by roll-folding. The method also includes inserting a gas generator and/or an airbag-retaining metal sheet into the airbag. The gas generator and/or the airbag-retaining metal sheet is/are located in the central third of the airbag folded in elongate shape so that two end portions of the airbag project from the gas generator and/or from the airbag-retaining metal sheet. The method also includes guiding the airbag end portions around the outer circumference of the gas generator and/or of the airbag-retaining metal sheet in opposite directions toward each other up to a folding zone in which the end portions of the airbag at least almost contact each other. The method further includes folding over the end portions of the airbag from the folding zone outwards and guiding the airbag end portions in the opposite direction around the outer circumference of the gas generator and/or of the airbag-retaining metal sheet and around internal parts of the airbag end portions located thereon for forming external parts.

Abstract

In an assembly with a gas bag module and a locking check arrangement, the gas bag module has a first detent element adapted for engagement with a second detent element to form a detent connection fastening the gas bag module to a vehicle-fixed component. The gas bag module can assume a not correctly locked state, in which the first detent element and the second detent element are in contact with each other but are not in correct engagement, and a correctly locked state, in which the first detent element is in correct engagement with the second detent element. The locking check arrangement has a movably arranged checking element for checking a locking status of the detent connection and indicating whether the gas bag module is in the not correctly locked state.

Abstract

In an assembly with a gas bag module at least one first detent element is designed for engagement into a second detent element, a load bearing fastening between the first and the second detent element fastening the gas bag module to a first vehicle-fixed component being closed by moving the gas bag module in an installation direction. An additional locking structure is provided which is separate from the first and second detent elements, and which connects the gas bag module with a second vehicle-fixed component. The additional locking structure exclusively determines in the installed state a final installation position of the gas bag module with respect to the second vehicle-fixed component, at least against the installation direction.
