Abstract
A restrictor for a window or a door comprises a first connector (10) adapted to be secured to a frame or sash of the window or door and a second connector (3) adapted to be secured to the other of the frame or sash. A cable or link (6) is secured at one end to the second connector (3) and has a spigot (11) secured to its other end. A lock (13) is housed within the first connector (10) and defines a channel (12) that receives the spigot (11). The lock (13) comprises a movable locking member (19) that in a first position engages the spigot (11) to lock the spigot (11) within the channel (12) and that is movable into a second position to unlock the spigot (11) allowing its withdrawal from the channel (12). The movable locking member (19) is biased into its first position and moved into its second position against the force of the bias (26) by the spigot (11) on its insertion into the channel (12). Movement of the spigot (11) further into the channel (12) releases the locking member (19) to return to its first position under the influence of its bias (26) wherein it engages the spigot (11) to secure it in the channel (12) of the lock (13). Hence, the restrictor of the invention may always be deployed to restrict window or door opening as no key is required to lock the cable to the first connector via the spigot.

Abstract
A key-operated pin tumbler lock comprises a shell (20) in which is rotatably disposed a plug (21) that defines a keyway (23) and a plurality of bores (24). The bores communicate with the keyway (23) through the plug (21) and in a locked position of the lock communicate with corresponding bores formed in the shell (21). A plurality of spring-loaded pin stacks (25) are located within the bores (24) and are moveable within the bores (24) against the spring-loading (31) by a key (40) inserted in the keyway (23) into a position wherein the plug (21) can be rotated relative to the shell (20). A stop means (32) is provided in one (26) of the bores and is adapted to engage the pin stack (27) which is located therein such that a key pin (34) of the stack (27) is prevented from penetrating into the plug (21) to a level reached by key pins (29) of the other pin stacks (25). Such a lock is significantly less susceptible of being opened by a lock bumping technique than a conventional key- operated pin tumbler lock. Preferably, the plurality of spring-loaded pin stacks (25) each have a height randomly selected from a bitting range, and a second additional pin stack (53) is provided in the lock that has a height greater than the greatest height of said bitting range. A key adapted to lock and to unlock said key-operated pin tumbler lock is also provided.
