Abstract

The invention discloses a repellent and/or scented microencapsulated formulation for the agroforestry and timber industry, where said formulation is a long-acting dry or emulsified product comprising at least the following components: 1-20% m/m of eucalyptol, present in E. globulus essential oil (EEO), as an active ingredient; 5-30% m/m of a mixture of glycosidic polymers (POL); 0.5-10% of a fixer; and distilled water q.s. The invention also discloses a method for producing the formulation and its use for controlling insects, mites and other organisms, particularly species of the Scolytidae family. The formulation is applied by spraying after the anti-spot bath of the export timber, which increases the durability of the repellent action and ensures the persistence time of the product due to the use of an encapsulating polymer and a fixer as adjuvants.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for producing a graphene-based material useful for storing electrical energy for the incorporation thereof into electrochemical capacitors. The method comprises the synthesis of the graphene-based material that comprises 5 sub-steps: feeding, activation/exfoliation, micro-nano separation, nano-decanting and nano-extraction. After this graphene-based material has been obtained, the electrode is manufactured in a process which is made up of 4 sub-steps: mixing, film preparation, filling with the electrolyte, and electrode cutting process. In light of the fact that the reported results regarding the manufactured electrodes show better electrochemical performance than those disclosed in the prior art, it can be concluded that the technological solution presented, which proposes the use of graphene-based materials produced from forestry waste, is a low-cost and eco-friendly solution for use thereof in the construction of electrodes for electrochemical capacitors.

Abstract

The invention provides a probiotic composition comprising two Weissella confusa lactic acid microorganisms in a high concentration, for use in agriculture and related industries. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a dehydrated formulation is provided, which can be applied during the process of sowing, coating or treating tubers and seeds, or can be suspended in water and sprinkled during the development of the plant. The composition of the invention allows potato crops to be protected against colonisation and infestation by the fungus P. infestans (control of late potato blight), stimulates plant development, improving yield indicators, and strengthens the properties of soil, improving its composition of beneficial microbes.

Abstract

The invention relates to recombinant antibody-related polypeptide molecules which specifically recognise human vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) and interfere with the in vivo proangiogenic and in vitro stimulatory effects thereof. These polypeptide molecules are formed by multiple sites made up of amino acids encoded by DNA sequences of variable regions of antibodies, for binding to VEFG-A. The molecules can be recombinant antibodies, single-chain antibody fragments (scFv), Fab-type antibody fragments, or multimeric molecules.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method that enables the production of recombinant proteins in the milk of non-transgenic mammals. The method is based on the direct transfer of the genetic information of interest to the cells forming the secretory mammary epithelium, by means of adeno-associated vectors. Using this method, it is possible to produce high levels of recombinant proteins in the milk of non-transgenic mammals during a complete lactation period. The method is scalable and enables sustained levels of expression to be achieved for periods of more than 100 days.

Abstract

This technology comprises specific sequences of interfering RNA having the capacity to negatively regulate the expression of the RNA coding for the receptor LOX-1. These sequences can be the nucleotide sequences corresponding to SEQ ID NO 1, SEQ ID NO 2, SEQ ID NO 3, SEQ ID NO 4, or SEQ ID NO 5, as well as fragments of said sequences, which maintain the capacity to negatively regulate the expression of the RNA coding for the receptor LOX-1, or homologues of these sequences. The invention also relates to the use of these nucleotide sequences in the production of medicines that permit the blocking of the growth and progression of tumour cells in the prostate in a selective, effective and specific manner, permitting the mass administration of these nucleotide sequences in the area surrounding the tumour without affecting the healthy cells.
