Abstract

The present invention relates to a system for releasing bioactive compounds that comprises biodegradable colloidal particles with an average size smaller than 500 nm, wherein the biodegradable colloidal particles comprise an anionic polysaccharide and a cationic polysaccharide. Furthermore, the method for obtaining said particles comprises the steps of: (a) estimating the stoichiometric ratio of charges between an anionic polysaccharide based on its degree of deesterification and a cationic polysaccharide based on its degree of deacetylation; (b) preparing a solution with the anionic polysaccharide based on the stoichiometric ratio of charges and adjusting to an acidic pH; (c) preparing a solution with the cationic polysaccharide based on the stoichiometric ratio of charges and adjusting to an acidic pH; (d) adding the solution with the cationic polysaccharide to the solution with the anionic polysaccharide to obtain the biodegradable colloidal particles; (e) reducing the particle size of the biodegradable colloidal particles; (f) separating the biodegradable colloidal particles from the supernatant; and (g) resuspending the biodegradable colloidal particles and storing them.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a photocatalytic sanitising device that can circulate/conduct ambient air from its immediate surroundings, said device introducing the air into an internal volume, and subsequently, by generating hydroxyl radicals (OH) resulting from a photocatalytic process, it can eliminate/reduce the organic matter present in said introduced air flow when it comes in contact with said formed hydroxyl radicals. The invention further comprises a method for decontaminating and sterilising. Optionally, the sanitising device allows specific objects to be placed in its internal volume in order to decontaminate/eliminate/reduce the amount of organic matter present on a plurality of surfaces of said objects, once the air flow entrains/conducts the hydroxyl radicals formed in the photocatalytic process and comes in contact with said plurality of surfaces of the object, wherein the present invention comprises using improved conditions of moisture control and the use of improved photocatalyst components to substantially and advantageously enhance the efficiency of the photocatalytic process.

The present invention relates to an entropic associative memory system for logging, recognising and returning distributed representations of images represented as finite functions. The images are stored in Associative Memory Logs (AMLs), which consist of tables with columns that correspond to the arguments and rows that correspond to their sampled values. The AMLs have an associated computational entropy, which defines their operating range. The present invention relates to layered double hydroxides (LDH) nanoparticles containing a non-polar compound of plant origin, which provide said non-polar compounds with higher stability and photodegradation resistance, in order to increase their shelf and storage life. Furthermore, it is described a simple and economical method for separating a non-polar compound from a plant material that contains it, as well as a method for selectively releasing the non-polar compound of plant origin contained in the LDH nanoparticles, with a high purity.

Abstract

Different ways have been used to optimise the contribution of each component in two-monomer systems to form copolymers, as the structures thereof strongly affect the composition of A-B type chains that may be formed during the reaction. For three components, the situation is further complicated if specific sequences are sought, since the number of possible growth reactions increases (9 for terpolymers, instead of 4 for copolymers). One way of constraining the relative content of the components in high-molecular-weight chains formed by traditional radical reactions is the use of a semi-batch process with feed gradient, wherein vinyl comonomers are sequentially fed in pairs (A-B and B-C), promoting the formation of A-rich chains, B-rich chains and C-rich chains, in addition to a certain amount of A-B and B-C copolymer chains which cover the spectrum of intermediate compositions. These act as compatibilisers. With this strategy, a synergistic combination of properties in the end material can be achieved.

The invention relates to a vertical, multi-stage pneaumatic system for the continuous processing of solids using air, gases and/or vapours, said system being formed by devices that are arranged vertically on top of one another and interconnected by means of downpipes connected by flanges.
