Abstract

The invention relates to a photonic biosensor with layer discrimination ability and coherent detection ability, which is formed by a waveguide (100) that simultaneously supports different orthogonal light states (201, 202). These states may be one mode at different wavelengths (205, 206), modes with different polarisations (207, 208), modes of different orders (209, 210) or any combination of same. This allows different measurements to be taken in identical conditions and reduces any interference that may be produced by a variation in temperature or in the concentration of any other component of a sample flowing through a microfluidic channel on the sensor surface. In addition, for the simple and practical implementation of this concept, it is important that the multiplexing (501, 702, 803) and demultiplexing (502, 701, 801) of the states is carried out in an integrated manner on the chip, and that coherent detection (507, 704, 802) is preferably also carried out in an integrated manner in the chip.

Abstract

Disclosed is a linear-focus solar collector with a horseshoe-shaped open receiver, which is a new solar collector concept for linear-focus solar thermal systems that allows the design of a more robust receiver that is durable under operating conditions at moderate temperate (<300ºC). A concave metal absorber, the upper front side of which is covered by a thermal insulating material, encloses a cavity with air at atmospheric pressure. The opening of the cavity is limited with a piece of glass. This piece of glass can be partially or fully closed, allowing the existence of a stratification chamber that limits convective losses. In addition to thermal functionality, the glass piece is optically active, improving the interception index of a slit through which the rays access the metallic absorber.

Abstract

The present invention falls within the field of instrumentation for measurement using spectrometry techniques, and specifically, measurement in the field when the sample (10) or the measuring instrument (12) are subjected to mechanical fluctuations. Thus, the invention relates to a system (1) and a method for improving the signal generated by optical spectrometry instruments and makes it possible to obtain a series or a succession of optical signals with spectral information, emitted from the same point of a sample (10) at a distance from the measuring instrument (12). By linking a series of spectral data associated with a single point of the sample (10) it is possible, among other things, to exclude interference in the measurement caused by information coming from other points of the sample (10), and to improve the detection limit associated with the precision of the measurement, by accumulating individual measurements emitted from a single point of the sample (10).

Abstract

Disclosed are a system and method for optimising word widths of digital circuits by means of bit-true simulations. The system comprises a model of the target circuit (5) with limiter circuits (7) that modify the value of the signals of which the word width is to be optimised, reducing the execution times of optimisation processes, without needing to reconfigure the PLD or emulate word widths by means of software instructions. Each limiter circuit (7) generates an output, limiting, at the logical level, the precision and/or effective range of the value of a piece of input data (NUM¡) according to a received instruction for controlling precision and/or effective range (10¡). The model of the target circuit (5) can be implemented in a hardware circuit of a PLD (2) or by means of software in a processor (8). Each limiter circuit (7) is normally located at the input and/or output of an arithmetic-logic operator (9) or arithmetic-logic unit (19).

Abstract

Downconverter with polarization diversity for coherent optical receiver with polarization division multiplexing, capable of being monolithically integrated. In said downconverter, the polarization diversity network of the prior art is replaced by a phase-assisted polarization diversity and coupling network that reduces or even eliminates the need to use polarization separators and rotators with high extinction ratios. This makes it possible to achieve polarization diversity functionality with a high level of precision, based on individual components with lower performance levels (in terms of the capacity thereof to manipulate polarization), which facilitates the monolithic integration of the complete receiver into a single wafer. A further subject of the invention is a coherent optical receiver that comprises said downconverter with polarization diversity for polarization division multiplexed optical signals.

Abstract

The invention relates to an electromagnetic chipless identification label comprising at least one multi-conductive structure printed on a dielectric substrate for identification compatible with unidimensional bar codes. The encoding of said label comprises defining the resonance frequency of multi-conductive structures which will replace bar code digits. The production of said label comprises defining the widths of the conductors of the multi-conductive structure and the separating distances between same in accordance with the corresponding bar code standard (310, 311); and selecting and replacing the corresponding digits in the bar code by printing multi-conductive structures (320a, 320b, 320c). The reading of said label involves the use of a transmission line arranged close to the label, said line moving longitudinally along the label in order to carry out a reading by coupling the electromagnetic field.
