Abstract

The glucose-responsive transcription factor ChREBP (Carbohydrate Response Element Binding Protein) is a key mediator in the response to glucose in pancreatic β-cells, strongly regulating glycolytic and lipogenic pathways. Several protein regulators interact with ChREBP that are involved in its activation mechanism, including 14-3-3 protein. Small-molecules are provided, which are useful as stabilizers for ChREBP 14-3-3 complexes, which were found highly useful for medical treatments, i.a. in type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Abstract

The invention pertains to a method for immortalising cells that are used for the harvesting of extracellular vesicles (EV). EV, derived for example from mesenchymal stromal cells, but also from other cell types, are known to induce beneficial effects during treatment of for example autoimmune disorders. However, the generation of secreting mesenchymal stromal cells is often dependent on donor material or the fact that isolated cells have a limited life span and limited number of passages of cell culture. The present invention provides a method of immortalising such secreting cells, the immortalised cells and medical applications thereof.

The problem addressed by the present application is that of providing pressure-resistant but not very thermally conductive concretes, precast concrete components, screeds, screeds for precast components, (glassfibre-)reinforced concrete, fire protection panels, construction elements for thermal partition and blocks. The aerogel-concrete mixture contains: 10% to 85% by volume/m3 of aerogel pellets having a grain size in the range from 0.01 to 4 mm, 100 to 900 kg/m3 of inorganic hydraulic binder, 10% to 40% by weight based on the binder content of at least one silica gel suspension, 1% to 5% by weight based on the binder content of at least one plasticizer, 0.2% to 1% by weight based on the binder content of at least one stabilizer and 0% to 60% by volume/m3 of at least one lightweight aggregate. The method for producing an aerogel concrete with an aerogel-concrete mixture involves first mixing aerogel and any lightweight aggregates, then adding a water-silica mixture, a water-plasticizer mixture and the stabilizer, adding the inorganic binder during a suspension of mixing, and, after restarting the mixing, adding the remaining water and continuing to mix.

For the analysis it is not required that the selected substance be isolated, concentrated, or pretreated by a special preparative procedure.

Abstract

The present invention relates to novel tumor-associated antigens, which elicit independently from a presentation via MHC a CD8-positive T-cell response. GM-CSF-Receptor alpha chain (CSF2RA) and Tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP-2) were found to be targets of CD8-positive T-cell clones which could detect the proteins on the surface of HLA I negative melanoma cells. Thus, the invention provides proteins, protein fragments and polypeptides of the novel antigens for use in medicine, for example for the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of a tumor disease. Furthermore provided are nucleic acids expressing the antigens of the invention, binding agents specific for the antigens of the invention, such as T-cell receptor chains and isolated T cells which are reactive against the antigens of the invention or which express the T-cell receptors of the invention. The invention further pertains to pharmaceutical compositions, especially vaccine compositions, comprising the antigens, nucleic acids, binding agents or T cells in accordance with the invention, and methods for the generation of T cells, which are specifically reactive to the antigens of the invention in an MHC-independent manner.

Abstract

The invention pertains to a Method for using and generating a map, in particular an indoor map, allowing for localizing a position based on one or more detected wireless signals originating from one or more sources (SRC1, SRC2, SRC3, SRC4), whereby a source (SRC1, SRC2, SRC3, SRC4) is selected from the group comprising near field communication device, mobile telephone, W-LAN access point, Bluetooth access point, etc.. The method comprises a step of detecting (100) at certain positions (Ρ1, P2, P3, P4); each of said certain positions corresponding to a position on the map, by a plurality of detectors (MD1, MD2, MD3, MD4) at substantially the same time at least one wireless signal originating from at least one of said one or more sources (SRC1, SRC2, SRC3, SRC4) with respect to its signal strength. The plurality of detectors (MD1, MD2, MD3, MD4) are arranged such that they reflect different positions of a corresponding user device (UD1, UD2) and its physical characteristics such as attenuation or scattering when worn by a user at the human body, thereby allowing for providing detected signal strengths with respect to different orientations. The method comprises also as step of storing (200) said signal strengths of each detected wireless signal originating from said one of said one or more sources (SRC1, SRC2, SRC3, SRC4) with respect to the plurality of detectors (MD1, MD2, MD3, MD4) and the certain position. Thereafter the method allows for provisioning (300) of said map. Afterwards a user device (UD1, UD2) may detect (400) at an unknown position a number of wireless signals and their signal strength, and the method allows for comparing (500) said wireless signals detected by said user device (UD1, UD2) with said stored signal strengths with respect to at least a best match in order to ensure that a certain position of the user device (UD1, UD2) with respect to a human body and its physical properties are correctly taken into account. The invention also pertains to an appropriate Measurement arrangement for generating a map, in particular an indoor map, as well as for a user device (UD1, UD2) for using a map.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for detecting and/or finding at least one gene modification, in particular a mutation, in a gene, preferably in a gene that codes for a protein connected to a tumor disease and/or cancer disease, in particular wherein the gene (mutation gene) having the gene modification is present together with further genes (wild-type genes) that code for the protein but do not have a gene modification. The method according to the invention is characterized in that a detectable hybridization probe (sensor probe) is used to detect the gene modification. The hybridization probe (sensor probe) is able to interact and/or interplay with, in particular to bind to, the gene (wild-type gene) having no gene modification and the gene (mutation gene) having the gene modification, wherein the hybridization probe (sensor probe) has a higher specificity and/or binding affinity and/or selectivity for the gene (wild-type gene) having no gene modification than for the gene (mutation gene) having the gene modification.
