Abstract

In an aspect, digital communication coding methods (or simply coding methods) are provided, said methods comprising providing families of quasi-cyclic low-density paritycheck, LDPC, codes each represented by a single equation. Said single equation is derived from a geometry whose nature implies good error correcting properties for each of the LDPC codes and allows quasi-cyclic parity check matrices to be constructed for geometric LDPC codes of exceedingly long length, up to and exceeding four hundred thousand bits. The construction of such check matrices is not possible by any other known method. The LDPC codes have different lengths and different rates and the families of LDPC codes are provided with a guarantee of minimum distance. The geometric and quasi-cyclic properties of the LDPC codes allow low complexity decoding with very low frame error rates. Systems, computing systems and computer programs suitable to perform such coding methods are also provided.

Abstract

Proposed is a synchronous control method for a power conversion unit. The method allows the synchronous characteristic of a conventional generator to be emulated, the implementation of said method being based on a traditional current controller and on the control voltage generated. By defining a virtual electromotive force and the system control voltage, the method implements a synchronisation structure to maintain the stability of the system and generate a synchronous compensation current, thereby promoting the stability of the frequency and the voltage at the point of common coupling of the power conversion unit. The method also enables control and adjustment of the basic parameters of the system, inertia, the damping factor and the virtual impedance value, allowing the mains voltage and frequency to be improved and supported dynamically.

Abstract

The present invention provides a system for manipulating matter by means of two acoustic confocal vortex beams (2, 3). More specifically, the invention relates to a system formed by at least one acoustic emitter that generates the vortex beams (2, 3) such that their topology charge and frequency differ. The superposition of the two beams (2, 3) produces an acoustic field (8) that winds helically along an axial axis (z), wherein the field structure rotates about the axis according to time and at a controllable frequency, which is given by the difference in the frequencies of the confocal beams. The uses of the invention include the manipulation of matter at an adjustable frequency, allowing it to be rotated, attracted and pushed, and also particle trapping and transverse-wave generation inside solid materials having configurable frequency and polarisation.

Abstract

The synchronous control method for facilities with multiple distributed power generation units is comprised of a plant controller which gathers electrical measurements and operates at the common point of interconnection, being responsible for the management of the active and reactive power flow supplied to the electricity network by means of the optimal distribution of the power references of all the elements constituting the distributed power generation facility. The method is implemented by means of a hierarchical structure, regulating the levels of power supplied by each power conversion unit, by means of the electromechanical emulation of the synchronous machine and its interconnection impedance to the electricity network. The control system can adjust the basic parameters of the electromechanical system, inertia and damping factor; and of the interconnection impedance, resistance and reactance, for the purpose of optimising the operation of the facility under different operating conditions.
