METHOD AND ASSEMBLY FOR SECURING THE END OF A WEB ROLL
For the securing of the web end of a number of web rolls, which lie adjacent to one another or side by side, tapes which shall be applied onto the rolls are transferred from a tape dispenser (13) to a tape conveyor (14, 22) such that the tapes will contact the conveyor through their non-adhering surface at a distance from one another corresponding to the desired distances between the tapes on the roll/rolls of web material. The conveyor with the tapes thereafter is moved towards the web roll/rolls, each tape being directed towards that place on the roll/rolls where the tape shall be applied with an adhering side brought into contact with the respective roll and secured to the roll at the said place. The conveyor then is removed, the tapes remaining secured to the roll/rolls therein that the adhering side of the tapes has a greater adhering power to the roll/rolls than the non-adhering side has to the conveyor.

Method for calibrating the position of the slitter blades of a slitter-winder
The positions of the slitter blades of a slitter-winder are calibrated using a laser to perform measurement and calibration of the fiber web cutting point of each slitter blade pair. Measurement and calibration is preformed on the top slitter blade of each of a multiplicity of slitter blade pairs one after another. The laser measures one slitter blade of each slitter blade pair while they are engaged. The slitter blade pairs between the laser and the slitter blade pair being measured are not engaged. Carriages which support the slitter blades have position sensors which the laser measurements calibrate and the blade pair positions are measured and the carriage positions are read simultaneously. The cutting edges of the slitter blades are sharpened to have straight sides and the laser measurement system is located so the laser beam is directed to the straight side.

Cutting unit in an arrangement for cutting and removal of wires from bales and a device comprising said cutting unit
The device is for cutting and removing wires from bales, such as pulp bales, paper bales and the like. The device has at least one cutting unit that has a cutting tool for cutting off a wire that is arranged around a bale, and at least one winding unit that has a winding tool for unwinding the cut wire from the bale. The cutting tool has an outer cutter and an inner cutter which are coaxially arranged and rotatable with respect to each other. Each cutter has a cutting edge which are arranged to be moved towards each other when the cutters are rotated towards each other in a certain direction, in order to cut off objects, preferably bale wires, between them.
A refiner (1, 18, 19) for refining fibrous material has at least one first refining surface (11) and at least one second refining surface (4), which are arranged at least partly substantially opposite to one another in such a manner that a refiner chamber (12) is formed between them, to which the material to be defibrated is arranged to be fed. The first refining surface or the second refining surface has openings formed through them and through which fibrous material to be refined can be fed into the refiner chamber or through which refined fibrous material can be removed from the refiner chamber. In addition, a method for refining fibrous material, a refining surface of a refiner and a blade segment for a refiner.

Sound attenuator for low frequencies, method for manufacturing sound attenuator for low frequencies and system for attenuating low frequencies for example in air-conditioning ducts of paper mills
A sound attenuator for low frequencies in an air-conditioning duct of paper mills includes a sound attenuator frame insertable in the air-conditioning duct. At least one attenuator member operating according to the plate resonator principle has a first resonator plate, a framework, whereto the first resonator plate is attached by its inner surface, and a second plate, which is essentially parallel to the first resonator plate. The second plate is attached to the framework by its inner surface, whereby the second plate, the framework and the first resonator plate delimit at least one attenuator unit. The first resonator plate, attached to the framework, is a steel plate and is attached to the framework by laser welding and the framework comprises a pressure balancing opening.

Refining segment for pulp processing with a deflector arrangement attached at the bars surfaces
A refining segment intended for refiners of disc-type for working fibrous material. A first portion has a first pattern of coarse bars and a second portion has a second pattern of fine bars. The second portion is positioned outside the first portion. The second pattern has a higher density of bars than the first pattern. The refining segment has a deflector arrangement protruding from a bar surface of the coarse bar. The bar surface faces the rotational direction. The deflector arrangement has a deflector surface directing a flow of fibrous material away from the bar surface. A refining apparatus has two opposing rotatable refining discs, separated by a refiner gap. At least one of the two refining discs has the above described patterns and deflector arrangements.
A refiner or disperser blade is made of a steel alloy by casting. The alloy comprises, in weight percent: 0.6 to 4 wt-% carbon (C), 0.5 to 1.5 wt-% silicon (Si), 0.4 to 1.5 wt-% manganese (Mn), 12 to 28 wt-% chromium (Cr), 4 to 12 wt-% niobium (Nb), as well as iron (Fe).
A counter roll (26) is positioned to engage a paper or board web (24) in a paper or board making machine along a contact line. A pressure-sensitive EMFi film (28) is disposed on the counter roll to measure the pressure profile of the web along the contact line. A coating apparatus (22) applies a coating to the web passing over the counter roll (26), and a pressure profile of the applied coating is measured by the pressure-sensitive film (28) on the counter roll (26). The pressure-sensitive film (28) may also be disposed to detect details of coating application in a curtain coater (30). Moreover, the film may be driven to provide adjustable vibration for cleaning the coater, or conditioning or controlling the coating flow.
