A composition for permanent hair shaping comprising (i) 1 % to 30 % by weight of an N-alkyl-2-mercaptoacetamide of formula (I) or the salt thereof, wherein R1 is a straight chain alkyl residue with 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a straight chain hydroxyalkyl residue with 3 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are, independently from each other, hydrogen or straight chain alkyl residues with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, (ii) 0.01 % to about 20% by weight of at least one at least one cationic surfactant that contains either a quaternary ammonium group or a protonable nitrogen group, and (iii) 5% to 95% by weight of water; and process for permanent shaping.

The present invention relates to non-fluid hair treatment products comprising a fluid composition which is absorbed on a waxy carrier, wherein the fluid composition contains at least one hair fixing agent, e.g. a hair fixing polymer. The products can be made by pulverizing a fluid hair styling composition on a non-fluid, waxy carrier, especially by first dissolving a gas in a fluid hair styling composition at high pressure, then expanding the liquid/gas solution, wherein a solid, waxy carrier is added in solid form before, during or shortly after the expansion. The product can be in the form of snow-like flakes which are easily melting in the hand and can be easily distributed on human hair.
The present invention relates to pulverized, non-fluid hair conditioning products comprising a fluid hair conditioning composition which is absorbed on a solid carrier, wherein the fluid hair conditioning composition contains at least one hair care agent, selected from the group consisting of hair conditioning surfactants, hair conditioning polymers, hair conditioning silicones, fatty alcohols, oils, panthenol, amino acids, panthenyl ethyl ether, sorbitol, betaine, creatine and protein hydrolysates; and wherein the carrier is a non-waxy material which is solid at room temperature. Preferably an electric fan 10 that is simple to control (in on/off function and fan performance) and is very cost-effective (Fig. 5) is used as extraction unit 5, which can be arranged compactly inside or on the steam hood 4.

A method for shaping hair comprising the steps of : (i) folding a curling sheet consisting of or comprising a superabsorbent material around the tips of the hair strand like an end-wrap, (ii) winding the hair around the folded sheet, thereby using said sheet as a curler, (iii) fixing the curlers with a clip, a pin or an other tool appropriate for fixing the hair on a curler, (iv) applying a aqueous hair shaping composition onto the hair on the curler, (v) leaving the shaping composition to act on the hair for 1 to 30 minutes, whereby said sheet is swelling and produces tension on the hair wound on it, and (vi) removing the said sheet.
